Job Description

Role Responsibilities :

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Deliver required development tasks is a timely manner while also helping and guiding other team members.
  • Contribute to the software architecture of key solutions.
  • Collaborate with other parts of the technology team, including product management, QA, marketing, etc. to deliver a solid product. Educate the engineering team on design principles and architectural choices made. Help the engineering team surmount situations as part of implementation
  • Conduct code review of projects as presented by your manager and provide feedback .
  • Review technical requirements provided by the business for key projects in order to take concepts from design to delivery.
  • Provide solid software/component level designs supporting technical requirements.
  • Transfer accrued knowledge to other team members though the use of meetings, walk- through, conference calls and other appropriate methods.
  • Help drive projects through the full development life- cycle when required, liaising with team leads & external vendors across the business as appropriate.
  • Review existing application code base and recommend improvements.
  • Provide constructive feedback to implementation proposals and feature suggestions, either in meetings or in written form when required.
  • Contribute to project plans if needed.
  • Ensure that all tasks undertaken are completed to a quality standard. This includes delivery on time, within budget and to specification.
  • [SM: Isn t this a PM responsibility ] Ensure yourself and others follow departmental workflow processes, work in a transparent manner, check in code promptly, report development progress in workflow tracking tools.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by your line manager/director on a permanent or temporary basis.
  • An enthusiastic approach to extending knowledge and learning new skills

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Technology, or Engineering (strongly preferred), or equivalent work experience. 10+ years of solid development experience in a commercial IT environment Strong and proven ability at design thinking in a modern software world. Passionate about code and software architecture Effective communicator at all levels, excellent inter-personal skills, strong business focus Strong cloud-focused development skills. Strong design and development experience on J2EE technologies.

Must have worked on the following:

  • Java 8+
  • JavaScript & Node.js
  • Message Queuing: Apache Kafka / JMS
  • XML & JSON processing
  • Developing web services: REST & JAX RS
  • Dependency injection (Spring / Google Guice)
  • Spring Boot / Netflix Kayron
  • performance tuning and optimizations
  • any one API gateway frameworks like Kong, Appigee etc
  • CI/CD tools like Maven, Gradle, Git, SVN etc

Additional Bonus if present

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Relational databases: Postgres / Oracle
  • UI and UX frameworks

Strong background on developing micro services using any framework

Working experience on Docker or Kubernetes

Working Knowledge on CI/CD tools like Maven, Gradle, Git, SVN etc
