Job Description

We are looking to hire a Design system Lead to provide leadership for our new Design System. Partnering with Product Management and Engineering, you will establish and redefine guidelines that effectively infuse our brand into our products while ensuring best-of-breed usability and accessibilityTo be successful, you will need to leverage your hands-on expertise in modern interaction design practice while working closely with front-end developers to codify your ideas and decisions.A living product, the new enterprise-scaled Design System will be at the core of how we shape and deliver product and services across the organisation. It will empower designers, product managers and developers to work effectively together with high standards, to create cohesive, branded experiences across multiple product and service lines.Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the design and implementation of the new design system
  • Define the vision, create, and prioritize the design system roadmap
  • Create the Design System language and integrate the design knowledge into the system
  • Coordinate with product managers, designers and developers to get components and patterns designed, specified, built and deployed
  • Connect the dots across product areas to create a cohesive and scalable design system and customer experience
  • Communicate and align with stakeholders, to keep them informed on the design system objectives, successes, releases and changes
  • Work through implementation issues with specific product and engineering teams
  • Define the means to document and deliver the Design System s knowledge and information, via a single source of truth
  • Present the system s mission, library, and process to other groups, including product designers, product managers, content specialists, QA, and other design and development teams internally and externally throughout the organisation
  • Working with design leadership, define the bar for design quality and consistency
  • Partnering with Product Management, define the governance structure and process in order to maintain adherence to the design system and the quality bars
  • Measure and monitor the health of the design system, and its continuing usefulness and value across the organisation
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
  • Experience designing for software products, ideally enterprise or equally complex
  • Proven experience on creating a new enterprise-scale Design System
  • Proven experience building and maintaining enterprise-scale design systems for complex software products
  • Strong systems thinking with hands-on experience leading or contributing to design systems including building adoption, guiding contribution and maintenance.
  • Portfolio of design system work that demonstrates your deep system design thinking and experience shipping products.
  • Experience with complex product architectures
  • Ability to understand the engineering and design rationale for our design system assets
  • Comfortable with new and uncharted territories
