A diesel mechanic is a technician who works on diesel-powered vehicles and machines. They will spend most days inspecting vehicles, identifying problems and repairing them. Routine maintenance work is also common for a diesel mechanic, Diesel service technicians and mechanics inspect, repair, and overhaul buses, trucks, or any vehicle with a diesel engine. Diesel service technicians and mechanics usually work in well-ventilated and sometimes noisy repair shops. They occasionally repair vehicles on roadsides or at worksites.Diesel Mechanics specialize in working with all types of diesel engines which differ from petrol powered engine sincluding carrying out inspections, repairs, servicing and overhauls. Diesel Mechanics may work with a wide range of vehicles and machinery, including cars, buses, trucks and farm equipmentThe main difference is that the Motor Mechanic Petrol qualifications include modules on Motor Trade Theory, while the Motor Mechanic Diesel qualifications include modules on Diesel Trade Theory. These modules will equip you with the specific skills and knowledge related to each engine type, An Auto Mechanic, or Service Technician, fixes vehicles and replaces their parts for customers. Their duties include inspecting the vehicles mechanical components and its engine, diagnosing problems with vehicles and performing maintenance and repair work on cars, trucks and other vehicles.
