Job Description

Cloudera is looking for an Engineering Manager with a strong technical background to help manage the team(s) located in Bangalore working on Apache Hive Database engine. The team(s) here are responsible for building Replication / Disaster Recovery capabilities and provide users from Spark to Hive connectivity so as to provide access to ACID tables in hive along with fine grained security.

Requirements:

  • BE, MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science

  • 12+ years of experience with > 2+ years of management experience.

  • Strong Understanding of Distributed Systems.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Good understanding of Engineering best practices.

Big Plus:

  • Experience with Apache hive, Spark , or any other Databases.

  • Managed multiple teams.

  • Worked with Big data technologies.

  • Have experience working in a distributed environment

Scope of Role:

  • You will be responsible for managing one or more teams for apache hive engine. As an Engineering Manager you would be responsible for working with Product Managers to define what capabilities should be built in the product.
  • You will have to work with PM s to understand customer use cases and help them use our product effectively.
  • You will be responsible for the growth of your reportees. You should be able to fill in, to address gaps in process / practices followed by the team / organization. As a leader you should be able to lead by example.
