Job Description

Assist and work with numerous teams to provide application level support for an assortment of geoscience applications (e.g. Petrel, Paleoscan, RokDoc, Geolog, and proprietary applications) in the Windows and cloud environments. Provide guidance to software developers in geoscience application development. Assist in application testing, troubleshoot issues, assist with application upgrades, and benchmarking.

Primary Job Functions:

  • Provide guidance in the development of geoscience applications/workflows
  • Translate geoscience business needs to appropriate software development
  • Test application design and integration
  • Resolve and/or coordinate the resolution of geoscience application issues and enhancements with appropriate internal organizations or vendors
  • Advise and consult with geoscience community and data management organization with regard to data, databases, data flows, and data tools
  • Aid in packaging and software deployments, patching, upgrades, application testing, and benchmarking
  • Document findings and create tutorials/training guides.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor s degree from an accredited university in IT or Geoscience related discipline
  • More than 1 year experience in supporting geoscience applications is required
  • More than 2 years work experience in the oil gas industry is required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with strong English proficiency
  • Preferred Knowledge/Skills:
  • Familiarity with geophysics
  • In-depth understanding of geoscience generalist applications, workflows, data, and technology
  • Linux proficiency
  • Scripting (Python, PERL, shell, bash, etc.)
  • Software acceptance testing and benchmarking
  • Knowledge of agile principles
