Interaction Design InternshipPosting Location : Location Remote US AZPosting date 1 day ago(3/10/2021 10:22 AM)Job ID 85484 Job summary The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a part-time design intern to join us remotely on the Fedora Design team. In this role, you will work as part of an international team operating as a design agency for the open source Fedora community supporting the design and development of the Fedora Linux-based operating system and associated marketing collateral. You will work closely with a mentor in crafting compelling and useful materials that will excite and delight Fedora users via a design process that includes research, data gathering, brainstorming, sketching, critique, and collaborating with fellow team members to iterate and perfect your designs. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business. Primary job responsibilities

  • Work on an assigned project appropriate for the duration of your internship that you will be responsible for; conduct research, create designs, gather feedback, and iterate on those designs to complete this project
  • Participate actively in team meetings and discussions which will include fortnightly team video chat sessions
  • Work on tickets in the Fedora Design team ticket queue as needed
Required skills
  • Some web or digital design experience; acceptable experience includes coursework in graphic design, illustration, and design principles and design-related extracurricular activities, including school yearbook and newspaper layout and design and personal design projects
  • Some experience working with digital design tools; the specific tool is less important than the basic skills, while tools of this type include Inkscape, Gimp, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills; written and visual communication skills are critical to the success of the materials youll be creating
  • Passion for and interest in technology and design
  • Examples or a portfolio (informal is fine) of some of your design work, no matter the medium
