Job Description

Trade Compliance: Trade compliance comprises of Export Control and compliances with embargoes and economic sanctions. The Export Control Officer verifies the export control requirements, initiate and follow the licence application process and ensure that the licence requirements are implemented in relation to the customer solution.

  • The Export Control Officer is overall responsible to manage the compliances with export control laws to improve group wide compliance with export control laws and regulations in order to protect and enhance the group s reputation as a responsible and reliable business partner.
  • The Trade Compliance Officer should verify the export control requirements, initiate and follow the licence application process and ensure that the licence requirements are implemented in relation to the customer solution.
  • Has good knowledge of SCOMET regulations, defence equipment export, Export Classifications and Defence Procurement Procedures of Ministry of Defence.
  • Understanding of Multilateral Export Control Regimes; Wassenaar Arrangement, MTCR Australia Group etc. o Coordinate with the internal departments and the suppliers and ensure that all the conditions of authorizations are followed, related with invoicing, shipping, keeping of records etc. Secure and track controlled outsourced items, so as to ensure compliance with the applicable regulations.
Contract Management The purpose of contract management is to ensure that the contractual commitments undertaken by the company are relevant and consistent; are clearly described; are ethical; and are well understood by those tasked with delivering them. It is also to ensure strict compliance of the company with these commitments and ascertaining that contractual commitments towards Thales are completed as well. It encompasses the following activities:
  • Analysis and review of customer non-technical requirements
  • Analysis and review of customer s obligations
  • Delivering the Legal Analysis for bids
  • Supporting the group entities for bids with country of destination India.
  • Supporting the Capture/Bid team in negotiations with the customer
  • Supporting the Purchasing Department in negotiations with key suppliers and subcontractors by ensuring appropriate flow-down of terms and conditions to the supply chain.
  • Development of the Contract Baseline. Ensuring members of the Project team are fully briefed on all material elements of the contract and understand their roles and responsibilities for supporting efficient contract management
Skills Required
  • The Job Holder shall have a minimum of ten (10) to twelve (12) years professional experience as in-house lawyer providing support to business in an international environment.
  • He/She shall should have experience in international context and shall have demonstrated expert practice in contract management and trade compliance issues.
  • He/She shall have a perfect command of English language.
  • He/She shall be autonomous, self-confident, teamwork capable, well organized and have an interest for multi-cultural environments.
