The Emerging Systems Lab/Telecom Systems Research (ESL/TSR) in Intel Labs is an innovative research group that works closely with Intel product groups, industry partners and industry consortiums as well as with the academic community to drive technology advancements and business impacts. The group research and prototypes advanced network and visual workloads, e.g., 5G telecom infrastructure and system architecture to transition this infrastructure onto high volume Intel Architecture (IA) based platforms through a combination of software-defined networking (SDN) and network-functions (NFs) operating in virtualized or containerized orchestrated environments. In visual space focus on visual infrastructure for efficient processing and management of large-scale visual data involving leading work in machine learning and computer vision. We are looking for highly motivated software architect with hands-on development experience in networking, machine learning and visual data processing. In networking knowledge of cellular network architecture and protocol is a definite plus, e.g. knowledge of 4G/LTE SPGW, 5G UPF or any other component or protocols using efficient packet processing framework like DPDK or FD-IO VPP. Knowledge of ML/DL/CV algorithm acceleration, experience of distributed systems and/or data management, knowledge of media codecs, etc. In this role you will be required to research, architect, and develop workloads and/or system features and collaborate with internal and/or external partners in the academic community or industry consortiums to bring advanced networking system design and workloads to life.QualificationsEducation/Experience PhD in CS/EE (or MS + 5yrs) Qualifications: Knowledge of system software, Linux, proficient in C/C++, Python Knowledge and experience with cellular network architecture and protocols Knowledge of efficient packet processing on the host, e.g. DPDK, as well as understanding of Intel platform architecture, virtualization, container., a plus.
