Job Description

About the team This position is a senior Oracle, MySQL and Oracle Exadata Database Administrator (DBA) in a centralized database administration team, which provides 7x24 support in test/prod environments. The DBA is mainly responsible for maintaining highly visible production databases. What You Will Be Doing
    • Actively manages backups along with other database administrators to ensure processes are successful and we can recover as a result.
    • As primary administrator provides on call support as needed for on-call issues with database environments and provides follow up and permanent resolution for reoccurring issues.
    • Assists application groups with design development that meet current and future business requirements:
      • Creates physical database objectives following established standards and processes employed by database team.
      • Enforces database standards and follows up on inconsistencies.
    • Ensures issues resulting in customer outage is escalated appropriately through TSG management.
      • Follows and meets project timelines and deadlines.
    • If necessary, participates in recovery of databases and assists with disaster recovery testing and documentation.
    • Implements backup/recovery procedures to protect integrity of data in database environment.
    • Meets commitments and provides excellent customer service at all times with internal and external clients.
      • Participates as a member of development support team on projects.
      • Participates in logical design process of strategic projects and responsible for the physical design/implementation.
      • Performs routine reviews of databases and systems to ensure acceptable levels of performance.
    • Provides 24/7 support of production database environments.
    • Provides maintenance of physical database:
      • Provides specific direction on infrastructure design to support applications.
    • Provides status reports (written and/or verbal) that are detailed to tasks and difficulties encountered enables managers to initiate escalation if necessary and assess areas where changes or additional support may be warranted.
    • Should have sound knowledge on MySQL
    • Good to have knowledge on Exadata database and Exadata storage
      • Understands and applies database concepts such as database definitions, parameters, database component placement, reorganization, access methods and security definitions.
      • Works with capacity planning, operations, application developers and other TSG teams on database performance and access issues.
    • Follows up on recommendations and actively pushes for implementation as appropriate.
    • Reports problem performance areas and recommendations for improvement.
    What will you Bring
    • Bachelors degree in Engineering preferably in Information Management or Computer Science.
    • Minimum of 5+ Years as Oracle Database Administrator
    • Good hands-on Oracle Core DBA, MYSQL DBA, Oracle Database.
    • Experience with Oracle Database Architecture; Oracle Database Upgrade; Oracle Exadata Database Machine.
    • Should have worked on Oracle RAC DBA; Oracle Tuning
    • Optional Skills are IBM AIX; Linux Environments; Oracle Linux.
    • Responsibilities include designing, installing, upgrading, patching, tuning, monitoring and troubleshooting databases with large amounts of data (Terabytes).
    • Capacity planning, sql analysis, schema revisions, security administration and user account maintenance are also required tasks.
    • Immediate participation in an active on call rotation required.
    • Candidate must be capable of providing off hours support to avoid impacting database availability during normal business hours.
