Job Description

  • The Fab 8 CIM Applications team, comprised of system software administrators, manages the many applications and systems that support our highly-automated 300mm fab. The team works closely with developers (external or in-house), SQA testers, IT, and end-users.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Maximize the availability of front-end wafer fab factory applications deployed in Production. This includes applications for Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Advanced Process Control (APC), Recipe Management (RMS), Manufacturing Specification Management, User Interfaces (GUI), Databases, Business Process Management, Dispatch, Scheduling, and Reporting Systems
  • Change Management: Develop test plans for new application releases (with SQA team)
  • Change Management: Assess and mitigate risks when deploying changes to the Production environment
  • Change Management: Plan and perform application installation during scheduled downtimes and during normal operations without downtime or Production impact
  • Production Impact Prevention and Fab Recovery: Create alerts, guides and scripts to drive improvements in Time To Detect and Time To Resolve
  • Implement application and system monitoring using Splunk, ELK, Grafana,
  • Proactively resolve latency or performance issues revealed by system monitoring or end-users
  • Incident Management: Develop and maintain troubleshooting and corrective action guides (TSGs, CAGs)
  • Incident Management: Perform per agreed-upon Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with Operations, IT, and internal and external software suppliers
  • Major Incident Management including On-Call: Work closely with IT and other teams during normal business and on-call hours (24x7) to troubleshoot and resolve Major Incidents with factory systems
  • Problem Management: Drive post-mortem and RCA processes after Major Incidents to ensure root cause identification and implementation of corrective and preventative actions
  • Knowledge Sharing: Plan and perform training classes for Level 1 support teams (includes the IT Regional Operation Center) and perform cross-training with peer application engineers
  • Knowledge Base: Keep Knowledge Base up to date with regard to system architecture, maintenance guides, TSGs, CAGs, scripts, etc.
  • Demonstrate expertise in primary CIM applications as a Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Assess and drive capacity planning in consideration of factory ramp schedules
  • Leadership: Coach and mentor less experienced staff
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
, Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS, CIS, Engineering or relevant field
  • Ability to travel to worldwide manufacturing locations to support on the job training and collaboration
  • Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Expertise in deploying and supporting large-scale information systems
  • Experience with major applications and IT components in a highly automated factory, including the Manufacturing Execution System (e.g., SiView, RTD/APF etc), material control system, equipment interfaces, process control software, dispatching/scheduling applications
  • Experience with Windows Server or Linux running JBOSS
  • Experience with monitoring tools to include log4j and SQLplus to troubleshoot applications
  • Knowledge of transport layer technology for communication between application systems (e.g. IBM MQ, CORBA, HTTP, SOAP)
  • Experience with implementation and maintenance of Kubernetes and Docker
  • Experience with implementation of CI/CD (Jenkins, Nexus)
  • Experience with implementation and use of Configuration Management and Automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform, CloudFormation
  • Familiarity with databases (common database and data replication technology (e.g., Oracle, DB2, Golden Gate), programming languages (Java / .Net) and Unix/Linux scripting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work effectively and communicate in a global organization
