Were seeking a motivated, growth-oriented Senior Developer Advocate to be a technical and creative thought leader within Mattermost, our open source projects, and external developer communities. This person will play a central role in influencing our open source community strategy and will have numerous opportunities to work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and marketing to influence Mattermost product roadmaps and go to market strategy.Responsibilities

• Be a primary driver of developer awareness programs to attract new developer audiences to the Mattermost ecosystem.
• Craft high-quality, engaging developer education resources that promote the adoption of the Mattermost platform and contributions to our open source projects.
• Generate buzz via deep, technical media including blog posts, audio/video, conference talks, and more, that covers developer productivity trends, challenges, tooling, and solutions.
• Turn developer educational resources into hands-on workshops, hackathons, and other developer events that encourage developers to integrate Mattermost into their software development lifecycle.
• Elevate the voice of Mattermost engineering to establish the company as an open source and technological thought-leader.
• Get hands on with developer audiences at conferences, workshops, and other events to promote Mattermost adoption and gather direct feedback about Mattermost content, tooling, and platform features.
• Cultivate a robust ecosystem of code examples, technical content, and other resources that help developers better understand and utilize Mattermost.
• Represent Mattermost in the broader technical community online and in person at major industry conferences.
• Influence Mattermost product roadmaps by advocating on behalf of our developer community to internal product and engineering teams.
• Build and nurture relationships with major developer communities and open source leaders.
• Connect with the Mattermost developer community on social media, third-party collaboration sites and other developer platforms.

Required Background/Skills

• 5+ years experience in technical software engineering, developer advocacy, or similar roles.
• Ability to communicate complex topics in clear and simple language thats inclusive of all skill levels.
• Proven history of excellent communications skills via technical blog articles, documentation, and video content.
• Passion for educating technical audiences about new and emerging technologies.
• Outstanding networking and communication skills, with a natural flair for building meaningful relationships.
• Self-motivated, with the ability to independently manage multiple competing priorities at a fully distributed company and community.
• Experience following best practices in diverse open source communities.
• Experience using at least one cloud services provider like AWS, Heroku, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience building software in one or more languages (Go and/or JavaScript preferred).

Preferred Background/Skills

• Existing networks to developer communities.
• Experience building software at scale using state of the art technologies and frameworks like Kubernetes and React.
• Experience with additional programming languages, primarily Python, Java, Go, and JavaScript.
