Job Description

Server BMC Test EngineerThis role has been designated as Edge , which means you will primarily work outside of an HPE office.Functionality Test Engineer Specialist Level for Next Gen BMC at Hewlett Packard EnterpriseYou will work with a world class team on qualification and testing of the next generation infrastructure and lifecycle management portfolio of HPE products. Our highly committed team of engineers believe in achieving the best value for our customers by extreme collaboration and doing it right the first time!

  • What you will do:
    • Work with value chain partners to understand product requirement and influence features, functionality and design to build debuggable, programmable and maintainable software and arrive at effective and efficient test strategies.
    • Perform open BMC validation and working knowledge of running open BMC test suites.
    • Perform functional testing with a wide array of BMC features like BMC sensors, IPMI, Redfish, Vmedia, KVM, Remote console, Redfish, PEF, SNMP, SMTP, Monitoring Fans, Power supplies, backplanes, chassis intrusion, Power capping, Out of Band management of Storage cards
    • Define the goals for unit / functional /system/ performance /scalability testing and drive the teams towards achieving these goals.
    • Provide test thought leadership, define automation best practices and work with the team to build consistent and maintainable tests
    • Research, recommend and implement open source and other tools as needed to increase automation across the board with the view of optimizing & creating better test and release efficiencies.
  • Who you are :

    • Articulate with superior communication skills and demonstrable success with the full software development lifecycles and experience with Agile development processes.
    • Experience developing and testing entire systems, with capability to understand details and mixed technologies.
    • A hands on engineer who partners and collaborates to build effective test strategies, perform test development and execution.
    • A creative thinker who can solve problems
    • You have a keen eye for detail and can identify functional corner/edge cases, timing issues, security loopholes, debug complex issues
  • You ve got
    • A Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with 8 years of experience or Masters Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with 6 years of experience.
    • Strong firmware, software, and hardware background with being an SME on BMC and proven expertise on system side testing
    • Hands-on experience in testing the Server Management BMC features across a wide range of Server configurations.
      • Extensive Experience in one or more of the following:
    • Python and Selenium
    • Robo and any other automation framework tools
    • REST APIs, JSON/XML
  • Hands-on experience in design and development of automation framework and simulators
  • Working or understanding of Open source test suite for Open BMC and Open BMC testing
  • Knowledge on the following system side aspects
    • SPI, eSPI, I2C, PCI Protocols
    • NAND, NOR, eMMC
    • USB and Network Stacks
  • Working knowledge of Linux OS and commands
  • Linux Kernel testing is an added advantage
  • Exposure to white-box testing and the ability to read through product code, debugging issues, improving coverage and identifying missing scenarios is an advantage.
