The mission is to create experiences and technology to reach, acquire, convert and engage customers. Our team is in early stage of product development. If you are looking for a creative, startup-like work environment and want to be at the center of innovation in Amazon India, this is the place to be!In this role as software development manager, you will lead a team of exceptional engineers building customer facing applications on Amazon s websites and mobile apps. You will own and develop highly scalable backend services to provide critical functions that drive traffic and engagement. You will build innovative solutions and machine learning algorithms to tackle some of the most complex problems. You will be at the forefront of influencing Amazon s platforms while innovating on behalf of amazon customers. You will own and drive the technical strategy for building and scaling Amazon s platform to power the traffic charter.A successful candidate will have a strong software engineering background, an established track record of building and delivering large-scale consumer facing applications while working in a fast pace Agile/Scrum environment. Additionally, the candidate will demonstrate: strong ability to innovate, passion for building consumer facing applications, excellent operational focus, strong technical judgment, excellent communication skills, passion for building and developing a team of engineers and a strong self-driven focus to deliver results in a fast paced environment.Key Responsibilities:- Lead a talented team of engineers to build and deliver individual consumer facing applications on desktop and mobile websites and a set of highly scalable backend services- Partner with business product owners as well as senior engineering leaders and engineers to create a vision and roadmap for the team- Collaborate with design and user experience research team to deliver world class seller facing user experiences- Be a hands-on leader managing projects and day to day activities of the team in an Agile/Scrum environment- Defining performance and availability metrics to measure and meet high operational standards for the services- Hiring, mentoring and developing engineers and leaders in the organization, - Strong technical credentials with 10+ years of software development experience with modern OOP technologies such as Java, C++, web technologies such as Javascript, AJAX, HTML, CSS in Linux/Unix environment, iOS/Android mobile app development.- 7+ years of experience managing a software development team- Proven track record building and delivering high performance and scalable services in a customer facing enterprise system developed in a fast-pace Agile/Scrum environment.- Computer Science fundamentals data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, complexity analysis- BS/MS in Computer Science- Experience in hiring, coaching, mentoring and developing engineers- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Master s degree in Computer Science- Experience building and operating large scale consumer facing user experience on desktop, mobile websites and mobile apps- Solid foundation in service-oriented technologies to be able to understand service inter-dependencies and drive towards technical solutions for multi-tiered systems- Experience building best in class mobile applications on iOS and Android- Experience in building Machine Learning based systems- Experience building e-commerce services and logistics for buying and selling online
