Job Description

    Cloud and Network Services is a leading Nokia business group that offers Network solutions on Core, Business and Enterprise segments, as well as Cloud solutions and Cognitive Services. It is a newly formed business group, that includes most of the former Nokia Software business, Nokia s enterprise solutions, core network solutions including both voice and packet core, and managed and advanced services from its former Global Services unit. This unit will also act as a delivery channel of certain products from other business groups to enterprise customers. Cloud and Network Services (CNS) will target growth by leveraging the industry transition to cloud-based delivery, network-as-a-service business models, and software-led value creation.Job descriptionAs a Technical Writer at Nokia, you will join a dynamic team of technical writers and use leading edge authoring solutions to craft content and user assistance that effectively guides users toward their goals. You will have the opportunity to learn applications, perform product installs, execute operations in command line and user interfaces, and collaborate with subject matter experts to tailor information acccording to audiences of varying skills, ranging from developers to product end users. Responsibilities
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Services, Application, Pre-Sales, Support, and Product Line Managers, to create, review, and deliver information products on time with excellence.
    • Adhere to documentation plans and develop quality documentation in Agile cycles.
    • Write and update installation, administration, deployment, and solution guides, API reference and developer-level guides, and online contextual help sets for customers and channel partners.
    • Gather and synthesize technical information from Scrum Team members, Product Owners, and Specifications.
    • Install and explore applications to develop topics, ToC maps, and ensure source files are appropriately checked-in and processed for desired outcome.
    • Develop and maintain clear, concise, and accurate information, and ensure content and branding aligns with corporate styles and conventions.
    • Develop and maintain graphics that are visually engaging and highly usable.
    • Test information in peer deliverables and edit them for grammatical correctness, clarity, and compliance with corporate style.
    • Assist Product Owners and Marketing teams in editing solution presentations and solution descriptions (when needed).
    • Be comfortable asking questions and giving support and guidance.
    • Peer-review other documentation deliverables to support immediate and cross-functional team members.
    • Research industry trends and best practices to enhance and evolve documentation models, tools, and processes.
    • Ensure deliverables are accessible to internal and external customers.
    • Train and guide less experienced writers to ensure team success.
    • Act as a general documentation contact for your product family.
    General Requirements
    • Minimum of four years experience writing in the software field for technical and end-user audiences. Some experience with developer-level documentation (such as API reference guides) is required.
    • University degree or equivalent in a technical or communications field.
    • Mastery of English, with excellent writing ability and extraordinary attention to detail.
    • Experience using XML Authoring applications, Git/Gerrit content management systems, and CI/CD publishing tools.
    • Experience with content strategy and information architecture concepts, including structured writing, with demonstrated ability to consistently design and develop documentation that optimizes efficiencies and resuse.
    • Familiarity with contextual help.
    • Ability to:
      • Work well with others and communicate clearly and positively in a collaborative, fast-paced work environment.
      • Estimate and plan documentation releases accurately.
      • Manage time and projects effectively, juggling multiple projects and deliverables.
      • Focus on what is important, with an eye for details that matter.
      • Find creative options when faced with complex problems.
      • Advocate for the customer with development teams in all aspects of user experience.
    • Experience with the software development life cycle and Agile practices.
    • Strong work ethic, accountability, motivation, and the desire to produce work that reflects your best abilities.
    Required Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Technical Skills/Knowledge)
    • Minimum of three years experience writing in the software field for technical and end-user audiences. Some experience with developer-level documentation (such as API reference guides) is required.
    • Bachelor s degree or equivalent experience in a technical or communications field.
    • Mastery of English, with excellent writing ability and extraordinary attention to detail.
    • Experience with information design concepts, including structured writing, with demonstrated ability to design and develop documentation deliverables.

    • Ability to:

    • Experience with Agile using SAFe as the default model.

    Technical Skills
    • Practical experience with Unix, Linux and Windows environments.
    • Practical experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, CVS) and defect-tracking systems (eg., JIRA).
    • Proficiency with document and help authoring tools (e.g. Oxygen, Adobe FrameMaker with DITA XML, RoboHelp, Acrobat Professional) and MS Office tools (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
    • Proficiency with graphic tools (e.g., Paint Shop Pro, Visio, and PowerPoint).
    • Experience working with an XML-based semantic markup language.
    • Experience in developing documentation using linear and modular methodologies.
    • Basic understanding of database technologies and ability to articulate database concepts.
    • Basic understanding of Web services technologies (WSDL, XML, JSON, and REST).
    • Basic understanding of HTTP request-response protocol.
    • Basic understanding of W3C XML Schema (XSD) and JSON schema.
    • Basic understanding of the telecom business and application domain.
    • Strongly preferred:
      • Experience with and interest in XML-based documentation tool chain development (e.g., XML, XSLT, XSL-FO, XPath, Maven, Bamboo, Ant).
      • Experience working with and understanding of concepts common to enterprise application servers (e.g., JBoss, WebLogic).
      • Experience with Eclipse user assistance.
      • Familiarity with scripting languages, such as Java or JavaScript.
      • Familiarity with web-based technologies, such as XML and HTML.
