GDS (Global Data Sciences) is a PayPal unit specializing in development of data solutions as well as data-science, Machine-Learning and AI solutions for multiple domains across PayPal - Risk, Fraud, Credit Sales, Marketing, Customer-support, Product experience, Global Operations and more. We use data, technology and innovative machine learning algorithms to drive business results and improve customer experience. Seeking an experienced hands-on Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of talented engineers to build the next generation platforms in the Data space for PayPal.Typical responsibilities include:

• Leading a team; Design, development, and testing of features/functions delivered.
• Collaborating with peers both within their team and across the organization.
• Working with product managers using agile methodologies to deliver high quality solutions on time.
• Working with operations teams to ensure your applications and services are highly available and reliable.
• Supporting your applications and/or services as and when required.

Job Requirements:

• 12+ years of experience in building scalable applications/products preferably some of it in the Big Data space
• Experience in the Financial services/Banking domain is a plus.
• Experience in building enterprise application & platforms for E-commerce biz (offline batch, Near-Real-time streaming and real time synch solutions especially for Big Data Technologies such as Apache Spark, Kafka, Hive, HBase is highly preferred)
• 4+ years of managing a team of Software Engineers
• Bachelor s degree and/or Masters degree in Computer Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Work experience on databases (Oracle, Teradata) and SQL skills are mandatory

• Ability to lead, organize, and manage projects beginning to end that require coordinated efforts across multiple functions
• Ability to operate and thrive in a fluid, ever changing environment. Proactive in approach with a focus on driving results and outcomes with multiple priorities and multiple stakeholders.
