Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The Block Storage Technical Consultant is responsible for the day to day storage administration of the of the assigned customer account(s).
  • Perform health check of the storage arrays and SAN switches in the environment.
  • Perform storage incident troubleshooting, storage provisioning, storage reclamation, performance analysis, capacity analysis and storage migrations.
  • Monitor incident and service request ticket queues and work on assigned tickets.
  • Implement change requests by following ITIL best practices.
  • Provide weekly and monthly operations reports to the Service Delivery Manager.
  • Follow the established policies, procedures and practices defined by Hitachi.
  • Identify and provide suggestions on continuous improvement initiatives within the account.
  • Perform firmware/software upgrades of storage arrays and switches.
Required Skills:
  • Minimum 8 to 12 years of total IT infrastructure support experience (in any domain).
  • 6 to 8 years of storage administration experience in any of the Hitachi Block storage platforms (USP-V, VSP, G1000, G1500, G200, G400, G600, G800, HUS, AMS series)
  • Good understanding of Hitachi storage tools - Hitachi Command Suite, storage navigator, SNM2, Tiered Storage Manager, Thin Image, Shadow Image.
  • Good working experience in enterprise SAN Fabric (Brocade and Cisco SAN Edge and Director switches) like DCX8510, 5480.
  • HNAS Technologies (HNAS4060, HNAS3080.etc).
  • HNAS -Share creation, expansion of FS, Expansion of shares.
  • NetApp Technologies
  • Veritas NetBackup Technologies
  • Understanding in replication technologies - HNAS.
  • Performance analysis and troubleshooting using Tuning Manager.
  • Experience Performing Zoning Activities using CLI, BNA and Device Manager.
  • Basic understanding of ITIL process (Change, Incident and Problem Management).
  • Certification on Hitachi technology is an added advantage.

  • Leadership skills
  • Excellent knowledge of the IT environment and its future trends
  • Ability to communicate complex technical contents plainly and simply
  • Strong consulting skills, flexibility and resourcefulness
  • Exposure to Customers Globally
Skills mandatory:
  • 8 to 10 years of support experience
  • System administration skills on UNIX/Windows
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • At east 8 years experience in Storage.
