The Enterprise Data Platforms team is responsible for fulfilling all data infrastructure needs of the PayPal site. This includes automation for systems, storage, database, and site operations.   • Automating data center infrastructure deployments (Compute, Networking, Storage, OS)
  • Build and administer custom tools and services to support mission-critical systems and enterprise storage
  • Develop Ansible playbooks to automate platform administration and monitoring tasks
  • Automate capacity planning and reporting
  • Monitoring and alerting for data center infrastructure and services
  • Identify tasks and areas where automation can be applied to achieve time efficiencies and risk reduction
  • Add test cases to the test automation framework when required
  • Measure and monitor critical KPIs such as availability, latency, and overall system health.
  • Create meaningful dashboards and templates.
Position Prerequisite Skill Sets
  • Previous experience with software development, infrastructure development, or development and operations
  • Familiar with the development of and interaction with REST APIs
  • Experience with Linux infrastructures, database SQL, CI/CD tools
  • Advanced scripting with Python, JavaScript, Powershell
  • Advanced skill level with automation toolings such as Ansible, Puppet, and Terraform
  • Time-series database development and dashboarding experience with Grafana and TSDB, Influx, or Graphite
  • Working knowledge of Git (and GitHub)
  • Comfortable navigating Unix/Linux systems via terminal
  • Experience supporting enterprise-class monitoring like Zabbix, Nagios, BigBrother, Splunk, SignalFX, or any other monitoring tools for network/systems/application monitoring
  • Ability to write custom scripts/plugins for custom monitoring
  • Experience managing NFS, ZFS, automount, LACP, DNS, LDAP on Linux preferred.
  • Fibre Channel and iSCSI block storage experience
  • NFS, CIFS, and SMB storage protocols for NAS storage
  • Working knowledge of enterprise SAN and NAS storage system administration
