Job Description

Azure Data, Intelligence and Fundamentals team is building a best in industry telemetry system that handles massive device and data scale. With hundreds of millions of devices running Microsoft products every day, a compelling amount of data is generated and processed. The service is the data processing and analytics foundation for measuring quality and usage for some of Microsoft s biggest products. We collect, process, and deliver data for consumption to various partner teams within Microsoft while also enabling Enterprise targeted programs to operate on a compliant platform with increased trust for our customers. Our service relies on top of Azure Big Data technologies such as Azure HDI, Azure Synapse, Azure Storage, Azure Data Factory. Our team provides big data platforms and tools that power data driven scenarios and analytics across Microsoft, covering a range of devices from Windows to Xbox gaming and our Consumer and Commercial Stores.We pride ourselves on a culture of team-trust, customer centricity, innovation, and transparency. New ideas are always welcome and appreciated and we encourage out of the box thinking when addressing challenges, complex processes, and architecture.As a Software Engineer you will design and deliver on the vision of the next generation of the Big Data Telemetry Service and engage with our partner teams to deliver a successful data platform. You will have an opportunity to work with the latest cloud services to help architect and develop a suite of future-state analytics capabilities. You will look into how telemetry is being generated, collected and consumed across all of Microsoft. You will evaluate and identify new technologies in Data space and guide the team in that direction to solve business problems. You will be working on transforming data into usable and meaningful form to enable analytics by our partners. You will also work on building infrastructure to ensure data ingestion can meet privacy and compliance requirements. You will partner with engineering, data science and data integration teams across Microsoft., Required qualifications (need to be quantifiable):

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics OR a related field.
  • 1+ years of software development experience with big data processing systems or online services.
  • 1+ years hands on experience with Object-Oriented programming in languages like Java, Python, C++, and C#.
  • 1+ years hands on experience using SQL or related experience to manipulate large datasets.
  • Experience in debugging and maintaining code (Java, Python, C++ or C#)
  • Good communication, collaboration and planning skills
Preferred
  • Passion for building highly scalable, reliable, cloud services.
  • Experience creating, developing, delivering, deploying, maintaining cloud services (Azure services preferred)
  • Good understanding/experience of Big Data analytics concepts
