Coinciding with the widespread network build out and adoption of 5G technologies by US Telecom operators, the new standard, is poised to revolutionize TV services, significantly alter the IoT landscape, and is also poised to impact the connected car/autonomous car automotive industry. The broadcast industry and the telecom industry are expected to unprecedented levels of cooperation and synergies across all dimensions of offering digital communications and content services to consumers.More details of the broadcasting standard and articles describing its impact are:Gaian Solutions is working with some of the industry s largest broadcasting groups to operate a Openstack based Cloud Content Delivery Platform that leverages the best of AI, ML and Data Science technologies in monetizing content delivery services for the 3.0 ecosystem.About the position:As the Broadcast Solutions Architect at Gaian Solutions, you have the technical responsibility for the company s Mobius - ATSC 3.0 broadcast platform, comprising of 10+ SaaS services. As a hands-on creator of the product, from design to development for our evolving features and solution, you will not only be involved in planning the solutions but also responsible for the coding(preferred but not mandatory) and development along with other allocated personnel for every project.You will have a great influence on our Mobius platform architecture strategy as well as technology selection and feature roadmap. We seek an experienced candidate with drive and passion that seeks to work with leading-edge products and globally renowned customers.Key responsibilities:Participate in hands on creation and execution of the platform improvement strategyProvide requirements and manage the product development, based on ATSC 3.0 standards, customer interactions, tradeshows, interoperability tests/events, etc.Deploy, manage and execute projects in the field of broadcast chain automation, hybrid TV (OTA/OTT), digital signage, encoding and transcoding, storage, delivery, and content protection.Work closely with the technology vendors and build good working relationshipsTo be the in house subject matter expert of ATSC 3.0 standardsEngage and contribute as Gaian s representative in ATSC 3.0 standards bodies/groups discussions and participate in the standards voting processContinuous improvement of system automation and monitoringParticipate in annual H/W and SW budgetingWork closely with Product Management and Marketing in defining product definitions and product roadmap.Continuously develop the broadcast platform deployed on Openstack, AWS and/or AzureCreate compelling product technical data sheetsTravel per the need to customer premises, tradeshows, interoperability tests and similar opportunities for deployments, demonstrations, meetings, etc.Skills and ExperienceStrong technical knowledge of high scale DVB systems and architecturesProven work experience as a Solutions Architect or Solution ConsultantExperience with statistical analysis, working with big data sets and advertising/media analyticsDeep passion and proficient understanding backed with experience in broadcast systems.Creative problem solver with the ability to think outside the box and quickly adapt to changeStrong technical background on video encoding (H.264, HEVC/H.265)Good understanding of video packaging and OTT streaming (HLS, DASH, HDS, HSS)Good understanding of DRM solutions and offerings (Google Widevine, MS PlayReady, Verimatrix, Adobe Primetime, Apple FairPlay)Experience from satellite reception head-ends (IP receivers, conditional access solutions)Working knowledge from high scale physical and virtual environments (KVM) is beneficialWorking knowledge of relevant networking technologies is appreciated (i.e. multicasting, routing, streaming protocols)Hands on experience with working on various encoding and origin server software platforms such as Varnish and WowzaProgramming skills in Java, Python or similarAn avid reader of technical documents - product, standards, etc.Nice to have Skills:Expertise in UML diagrams in support of HLD & LLD process.Author of high-quality design documentation.Mentor teams as a leader if not a manager.Deep understanding & respect for the Agile process.Experience in working with the culture prevalent in product development organizations.Passion to create high-quality software product.Highly ambitious for success & growth.DRM vendor certifications (i.e. Google Widevine)ITIL, cloud certificationsAnalytical and structuredFlexible and willing to learnGood presentation and customer service skillsThrives on the leading edge of technologyAbout Gaian Solutions:Gaian Solutions is a 13-year-old product organization and a leading edge provider of products and solutions to the media and entertainment industry.Headquarters: San Francisco/Silicon Valley, USAR&D development centers: India and ChinaGaian s products and solutions are deployed across the globe US, APAC, Mexico, Maldives, & India.
