Job Description

As a Lead Data Scientist, you would play a critical role in developing and then implementing Advanced Analytics solutions on production systems. The role would involve building cutting edge solutions for revenue optimization, match making, capacity planning, demand prediction, fraud identification, solving for disintermediation and churn prediction etc Potential hires are expected to own the end to end process right from development to implementation - data extraction, text analytics, feature engineering, model building, model testing, deploying the solution into live systems. You are expected to mentor and provide the vision for the team. You will play crucial role in team building. You would get the opportunity to work directly with Founders on crucial projects. You will communicate clearly the purpose of the data products your team builds to senior management both verbally and in written form. Key Data problems we are solving

  • Matching the right professional for each customer request (match making)
  • Quantifying how many requests were lost based on drop in conversion due to unavailable slots
  • Use this data for onboarding providers at hyper local level (capacity planning)
  • Predicting the loss in productivity for each provider due to lack of opportunities (Supply Building)
  • Using various signals to find out fraud / disintermediation on the platform (Fraud detection)
  • Recommending relevant categories to the customer (personalization)
  • Not taking those requests where we have predicted that no partner is going to respond. Stopping bad customer experience as a result (customer experience)
  • Identifying providers who are going to get churned and try to retain them (partner retention)
Key Responsibilities
  • Breaking up big business problem into small actionable Analytical/Data Science problems
  • Be continuously aware of 1) constraints 2) assumptions and plan for consequences of the decisions made during model building
  • Deploy the model into production as a micro service
  • Give thought leadership on problem definition and defining the key metrics to target
  • Own career progression of the team (e.g. upskilling like introduce modern coding practices, encourage stronger design principles, lead peer review by example, etc.)
  • Hire stellar performers to the data science team.
  • Ability to lead multiple projects in parallel
Desired Skills
  • Overall experience of 8 yrs. in Advanced Analytics/ Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing
  • Strong conceptual understanding on machine learning techniques - classical regression, logistic regression, neural networks, cluster analysis, cross validation, bagging, boosting and random forests etc.
  • Strong expertise on SQL and working with relational systems
  • Should have deployed and iterated on multiple models in production systems
  • Expertise on R/Python - Mandatory
  • Strong focus on adding value to business and ability to take complete ownership.
Education Qualification
  • Advanced degree in mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering or similar technical field with relevant course work in probability, statistics and quantitative methods
