Role overviewWe are looking for an experienced, Module Lead Engineer for Routing and switching protocol feature supported over Packet products who is passionate about advancing the state-of-the-art and about delivering innovative products in networking and routing technologies. You will be progressing your career in advanced networking and virtualization technologies with good exposure to Simulators. You will have an influential and challenging role contributing to next generation routing capabilities and distributed systems focused on carrier grade capability, scale and reliability.Establish yourself as a go-to Technical Expert for virtualization, distributed network, virtual machine and simulators with next gen networking protocols on packet optical network solution.Always continue learning and developing skills in technologies: system and network virtualization (Containers, SDN, NFV), advanced routing, BGP, Segment Routing, EVPN, LDP, MPLS, fast switchover technologies, Ethernet services and more.Troubleshoot customer and Internal reported issues in virtualized environment with L2/L3 services; identify root cause, diagnose, debug document, and help developers in faster defect resolutionProvide detailed implementations for test coverage, automation, validation, and documentation to deliver high quality, functionally excellent productsWork in an agile development environment and participate in sprint activities to plan and produce rapid cycle, high quality deliverables, co-ordinate activities across scrumsWhy is this role important within Ciena What impact can you expect to have Ciena packet software and hardware technologies are deployed in Global Networks, Private and Public Cloud Solutions, 4G/5G communications, and SD-WANInfluence design of market-leading products as the network infrastructure transitions to 5G, L3, and disaggregated cloud architecturesWhat type of work environment will you be working in Who are the key teams with whom you will interact Partner with peer development scrums and technology leaders to ensure excellent cross-component QA strategy and coverage in various protocolsWhat technical experience and/or professional and personal skills are required for this role Requires, hands-on, strong in-depth and deployment-tested knowledge of Layer 3 and Layer 2 technologies.Familiarity with simulators, virtual machines, distributed networks and virtualization.Understanding of optical technologies like DWDM will be an added advantage.Customer and Quality champion be able to review, provide comments and approve Functional specifications, Technical Requirements, Design test plans for high quality product and higher customer satisfaction.Hands-on leader who can root cause and solve complex defects, often working with cross-functional teams, software design and customer supportDeveloped skills as an excellent verbal and written communicator with the ability to influence and also the ability to absorb, germinate, and evolve new ideas in collaboration with other contributorsWorking exposure on Linux system, Strong programming and trouble shooting skills.Familiarity with product cycles and deployment journeys for carrier class products in Service Provider customer environmentsEducation and Experience:6+ year of experience in Manual Testing and Automation.Bachelors/ Masters degree in computer science or a related discipline.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, effectively able to collaborate with multiple teams across geographically diverse areas.*LI-CNBeing You @ CienaAs part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion, we want to foster an environment that values and respects all individuals strengths, perspectives, ideas, and ability to meet the needs of our customers globally.
