Job Description

Expedia Software Developer III BackendThe Platform Control Plane team is the driver responsible for the next generation Platform for Expedia Group. If you would like to help us build the best-in-class Technology Platform to power our two-sided marketplace (travelers and partners), please read on!Our company has pushed for an API First approach for surfacing our Business Capabilities to our EG developer community. We will be building out the full-stack platform that allows API providers and API consumers to be productive in end-to-end flows from onboarding to transacting and evolving their technical and business successes.In this role, you will have the chance to create an impact across Expedia Group working with various technical teams to help shape our API first approach. As a software development engineer III, you will be responsible for leading sophisticated, well-defined projects.What youll do:Leadership and Mentoring

  • Proactively team up with peers across the organization to build an understanding of cross dependencies and shared problem-solving

  • Demonstrate knowledge of advanced and relevant technology

Application Development /Programming
  • Develop and test sophisticated or non-routine software applications to ensure they meet design requirements
  • Use software design principles, data structures and/or design patterns, and computer science fundamentals to write clean, efficient, maintainable, optimized and modular code with good naming conventions
  • Lead/Clarify code evolution in code reviews
Systems Thinking
  • Bring together different participants with varied perspectives to develop solutions to issues and contribute your own suggestions
  • Think holistically to find opportunities around policies/ processes to increase efficiency across organizational boundaries
Innovation
  • Identify areas of inefficiency in code or systems operation and offer suggestions for improvements
  • Compile and report on major operational or technical initiatives (like RCAs) to larger groups, whether via written or oral means
Who you are:
  • A problem solver and excellent coder with deep understanding of algorithms, data structures and data modelling.
  • Experience in building distributed, stateful systems
  • Ability to test, monitor, debug, fix issues within established SLAs, using testing and monitoring tools
  • Able to design software that is easily testable and observable
  • Experience working in AWS and continuous delivery practices
  • Experience with Kotlin, Kubernetes and NoSQL technologies
  • Experience in API Design and Domain Driven Development, knowledge of data
