You will be a critical part of a highly respected automation framework team within the NCP organization. You will be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of our MCP automation framework and providing assistance/guidance to the QA Engineers for the enablement of automation delivery. The successful candidate possesses experience with s/w testing activities relating to test planning, automation development, and test execution for telecom products.ResponsibilitiesThe Automation engineer is responsible for the development of Automation Framework for the Network Management related applications in a multi-site R&D environment.General Activities

• Automation Strategy Planning- Identification of Automation candidates primarily in the UI space leveraging Selenium and Python technologies. Continuous integration via Team City
• Design and Develop Automated Tests inline with the REST and UI support in the Network Management System and associated applications.
• Monitor the Automation runs for failures if any and report Defects for the failures in the automation run.
• Active contribution to support automation and debugging activities for the Network management Test and Design teams
• Flag bearer of automation best practices and influencing the same across different QA teams
• Collaborate with multiple teams to ensure Automation is implemented and maintained with Quality.
• Enhance test coverage including Robustness and Failure Path coverage.
• Promote re-use between existing Code base and new applications.

Collaboration with stakeholders

• Work with QA and Design team members for enhancing and providing assistance on various requests associated with enhancement to our Automation Framework
• Work with QA members to provide help/assistance on a per-need basis
• Work with the Design team to expedite Defect Fixes where required
• Work with our Ciena Simulation teams to ensure required setups are made available and meets the teams needs

Skills

• Software testing
  • Working experience in development of test strategy, test planning, manual & automation test development
  • Experienced in manual & automation test execution of NMS/EMS based telecom products
  • Worked in an Agile development environment with experience testing either In-scrum or customer vertical use cases, executing cross functional workflows using API micro services
• Technical
  • Experience identifying and working with Test Automation tools ex. Selenium, Cucumber, Silk test, Robot Framework etc
  • Experience with Repository manager and Build management tools
  • Development experience of Python, JavaScript, Postman and Selenium
  • Knowledge of databases like Oracle, MySQL, Cassandra
  • Experience with north bound OSS interfaces (REST/TMF)
  • Experience working with Microservice Based Architecture: Dockers, Containers, Git various DevOps tools.
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise based network management software solutions in a Unix/Linux/VM/Cloud based environment.
  • Familiar with how to dissect a DOM (chrome dev tools)
  • Preferred experience working with DWDM/OTN/SONET/SDH/Packet and networking technologies - (L0/L1/L2&L3)
  • Understanding of Test and Defect Management tools.

Education

• Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science
• Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication
• M. Tech/MSc in Electronics and Communication, Computer Science
