    Job summaryAmazon.com s Buyer Risk Prevention (BRP) mission is to make Amazon the safest and most trusted place worldwide to transact online. Amazon runs one of the most dynamic e-commerce marketplaces in the world, with nearly 2 million sellers worldwide selling hundreds of millions of items in ten countries. BRP safeguards every financial transaction across all Amazon sites. As such, BRP designs and builds the software systems, risk models, and operational processes that minimize risk and maximize trust in Amazon.com. The BRP organization is looking for a Data Science Manager for its Payment Risk Mining Analytics (PRISM) team, whose mission is to combine advanced analytics with investigator insight to detect negative customer experience, improve system effectiveness, and prevent bad debt across Amazon.As a Data Science Manager, you will be responsible to lead design and deployment of scalable ML models to improve operational efficiency and reduce bad debt. This will include driving end-to-end solutions from understanding business requirements, exploring a large amount of historical data and ML models, building prototypes and exploring conceptually new solutions, to working with cross-functional teams and systems for prod deployment. This role combines science leadership, organizational ability, technical strength and business understanding. Candidate will lead PRISM s India site team comprised of Data Scientists and Business Analysts.Key job responsibilitiesAs a Data Science Manager, you will:a) Lead scientists and analysts on the team and oversee research and development projects at various stages ranging from initial exploration to deployment into production systems.b) Collaborate with software engineering teams to integrate successful ML models into large scale and highly complex production services.c) Report results in a scientifically rigorous way.d) Interact with other scientists, product managers and related domain experts to dive deep into the types of challenges that we need innovative solutions for our products.e) Learn and understand a broad range of Amazon s data resources and know when, how, and which to use and which not to use.f) Maintain technical document and communicate results to diverse audiences with effective writing, visualizations, and presentations, Quantitative Bachelors or Master s Degree. 7+ years of experience working in data science ideally in the tech or consumer industry. Evidence of doing or directing science work with high positive impact on business outcomes Experience hiring and leading experienced scientists as well as a successful record of developing junior members to a successful career track Management experience for working on cross-functional projects.. 5+ years of experience managing Data Scientists 2+ years of experience managing intermediate managers.Skilled with one scripting language such as Python, R, or others. Superior verbal and written communication skills, ability to convey rigorous mathematical and statistical concepts and considerations to non-experts. A PhD in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Mathematics, Machine Learning, AI, Statistics, or equivalent) 10+ years of experience working in data science in a consumer product company 7+ years of experience managing Data Scientists 4+ years of experience managing data scientists, including intermediate managers 1+ years of experience with AWS SageMaker ML workflow. Management experience in matrix fashion across sites
