Global Category ManagerPosition Summary & Primary ObjectivesWe are looking for an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced, change management and team-oriented environments, likes to be challenged and values the opportunity to make a difference. You will serve in a pivotal role, leading strategic sourcing engagements across a wide range of business units on a global basis to enable new business initiatives to launch and scale rapidly. Spend categories under management may include Corporate Services such as Professional Services, Consulting Services, HR Services, Marketing Services as well as indirect categories and supply markets. Key leadership traits required include the ability to influence and form strong partnerships with business leaders, and operational excellence in managing multiple complex and competing priorities simultaneously. Global Category Managers are expert practitioners in the tools for creating competitive environments and have a strong bias for decision-making rooted in data and analytics. Major Areas of AccountabilityStrategic Requirements

  • Development of strategic sourcing initiatives through the introduction of a competitive marketplace, demand management, supplier consolidation, and process re-engineering
  • Drive the business through increasing both savings and value
  • Category expertise to identify cost drivers/trends to create procurement strategies across the category
  • Management of competitive bid processes including RFPs, RFIs, RFQs
  • Lead negotiations of various types of supplier agreements
  • Own the full strategic sourcing cycle, including supplier identification and selection, price negotiation, and contract red-lining
  • Lead and drive the identification, planning and management of a pipeline of strategic sourcing projects
  • Market research and bench-marking of suppliers and related service categories
  • Think and act globally to lead and collaborate effectively on a cross-functional basis
Supplier Management
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships
  • Arrange performance reviews with key suppliers and internal stakeholders to evaluate supplier performance and make recommendations to address issues and exploit opportunities
  • Perform analysis of supplier spend data and process metrics to proactively recommend improvements
Stakeholder Management
  • Work with and across stakeholder groups to define needs and aggregate wherever possible
  • Act as liaison between the stakeholder and the supplier to determine if optimal approach to meeting validated business requirements
  • Provide input to stakeholders on budget development based on market/supplier pricing
  • Provide continuous feedback to stakeholders and management regarding status of projects and initiatives
  • Provide education and guidance to stakeholders regarding value of adopting and complying with purchasing policies, procedures, tools, and processes
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and engage them to actively participate in on-going sourcing efforts.
  • Enlists the support of leaders or experts who can enhance and reinforce the persuasiveness of ones own efforts.
General/Projects
  • Must have good knowledge of various sourcing practices and tools, and lead/support efforts to enhance the value of sourcing to the organization
  • Perform analysis of spend data and process metrics to proactively recommend improvements
  • Extend the reach of Sourcing by exercising appropriate influence within project teams, customer groups, and peer groups
  • Create and lead project teams, or directly address specific sourcing issues, working with stakeholders and sourcing management to reach resolutions
  • Ensure sourcing guidelines are understood and adhered to
  • Ensure all standards as defined by the Sourcing department are followed and enforced
Knowledge And Skills Requirements
  • Knowledge of a wide-range of professional and corporate services as well as other indirect categories and supply markets
  • Excellent business acumen, strategic, leadership and change management skills with proven experience

Previous Experience Requirements
  • 5 -7 years of strategic sourcing experience including but not limited to category level responsibilities in professional services and other global categories
