JOB DESCRIPTIONOur Client is a large diagnostic service provider in the country.BASIC INFORMATION

• Position Name: Head of the Department
• Location: Hyderabad
• Reporting to: Lab Director

PURPOSE OF ROLETo head and lead Department of Hematology & Clinical PathologyKEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIESAdministration:

1. Responsible as HOD for routine working in the Hematology (includes Immuno Hematology , Flow cytometry) & Clinical Pathology and monitor the work performed in the section to ensure that reliable results are being generated.
2. To coordinate with Molecular Pathology and ensure that reliable results are being generated for Hematological parameters
3. Ensure that optimum staff and Consultants (who are trained and competent) are available on any day to ensure smooth functioning of the section. Deputies for key areas in the section are nominated
4. Ensuring TAT for the day on a real time basis with the help of Consultants, lab managers and technical staff
5. Optimization of resources and set processes and methods to match the available resources with the needs of the organization in order to achieve established goals while maintaining good staff morale.
6. Visiting processing centers in Hyderabad regularly at defined frequency to ensure that the processes are in place and reliable results are being generated in relevant section
7. To provide technical support /advice to Department of Hematology of satellite Client labs. Visiting the peripheral processing centers (outstation) as and when required.
8. Sales Training, Marketing activity to promote the needs of the organization (keeping track of slow moving parameters and new launches)

Technical:

1. Provide advisory services for those requesting information about the choice of tests and the use of the services and the interpretation of laboratory data.
2. To ensure proper handling and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimum performance and minimize wastages.
3. To ensure that adequate stock of reagents, consumables and all others needed for patient testing is available in coordination with the lab managers, Central stores and Lab director
4. To ensure optimum utilization of the reagents and consumables and ensure proper documentation of all repeats, rejects and end point testing when needed along with any confirmatory testing done for any parameter.
5. Responsible for the consumption audit of the section in coordination with the internal audit team of the organization
6. To ensure the sample collection and transportation is appropriate for the parameters in testing and address any issues related to sample collection activities of the section. If need be provide relevant trainings to the collection staff.
7. Review monthly internal quality control data, EQAS performance, quality indicator data, and monthly CV% for the testing parameters in the section
8. To ensure the correctness of the reports generated with correlation to clinical findings, demographics provided and the IQC performance of the test parameters.
9. Authorized to report results of Department of Hematology, Clinical Pathology, Flow Cytometry and non[1]Infectious parameters of Molecular Pathology subject to NABL approval.
10. Follow standard and universal precautions including PPE and Biomedical waste management guidelines
11. Ensure active vaccination status of self and staff

Quality management system:

1. To ensure that work processes are compliant to the laid down Standard Operating Procedures (MSP`s, Gen Sop`s and Technical SOP`s) of Client, NABL 112 and ISO 15189:2012 Standards
2. Timely review of all SOP`s related to the section to ensure current practices
3. To ensure that work processes are compliant to the laid down Standard Operating Procedures(MSP`s, Gen Sop`s and Technical SOP`s) of Client, NABL 112 and ISO 15189:2012 Standards
4. Review of Technical SOP`s relevant to Department of Hematology & Clinical Pathology of Satellite Client processing labs in Coordination with AGM Technical operations, QAD and Lab Director
5. To ensure adequate method verifications and new test methods/ equipment performance verifications as per the procedures to determine the reliability of the procedures to meet needs of the user.
6. Plan and participate in scheduled PT / ILC Programs and initiate corrective action where deemed necessary
7. To participate actively in any internal or external assessments and identify opportunities for improvement based on risk assessment of the section.
8. Plan and initiate IQC protocols to meet the regulatory requirements
9. Interact with clinicians / patients in informing critical values and initiate action against the same.
10. To participate in relevant CME`s /Conferences as part of professional upkeepment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS QUALIFICATION Education

• Basic: Post MBBS; DNB/MD
• Preferred: MD Pathology
• Additional Certification: ISO 15189 IA and/or Assessor

EXPERIENCE Total: 12 - 15 yearsOTHERS

• Preferred: Last Experience as Sr. Consultant
• Industry Preferred: Stand Alone Diagnostic Set-up
