Job Description

The Information Security (IS) Scrum Master (SM) supports the IS Agile Transformation team directly reporting to the AVP Senior Scrum Master, IS Agile Transformation. The person in this role will have overall responsibility for people management via their Agile teams, business and technology liaison, training and awareness, and advocating and evangelizing SYF and IS s Agile mission. The SM ensures the smooth operation of all Agile team processes and activities. This includes organizing and running daily stand-ups, sprint/iteration planning and sizing sessions, backlog grooming sessions, and end-of-sprint/iteration ceremonies. The SM is responsible for tracking sprint/iteration progress and burn-down by creating dashboards and reports as needed.Essential Responsibilities:Team Agility

  • Schedule and facilitate daily stand-up meetings.
  • Drive sprint/iteration planning through participation in backlog story grooming.
  • Coach team members to work together efficiently in an Agile way. Guide teams in using new tools and methodologies. Protect the team in order to increase team s focus on its tasks.
  • Guide team to remove impediments. Resolve conflicts and issues that occur.
  • Work closely with the product owner to ensure backlog items are properly defined prior to acceptance into an iteration/sprint. Coordinate with product owner to ensure team s work is reviewed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Develop a deep understanding of InfoSec products/services and vision to help guide team development.
  • Create metrics to provide team and the organization with relevant feedback.
  • Experiment with and integrate processes and tools that encourage continuous improvement.
  • Continuously strive to assist team and product owner to deliver higher customer satisfaction, improved velocity and delivery predictability, better system performance and enhanced ability to innovate, scale, and meet compliance requirements.
  • Focus team to establish flow, collective ownership and greater automation.
  • Guide teams to agree on a Definition of Done - align teams around what quality means and how it is built into the solution.
  • Espouse, advocate, practice and assist team in Agile core values and Lean-Agile mindset and related principles. Promote Agile principles throughout IS.
  • Provide updates to product owner, team and IS staff at end of sprint/iteration ceremonies, system demos and status meetings. Ensure key messages are cascaded to all in the team, and as appropriate throughout the IS organization. Establish and maintain cross-team and (where appropriate - cross-business) relationships and provide critical communication to key leaders and stakeholders for InfoSec agile programs.
  • Assist product owner to create roadmaps and their dissemination to the team(s)
  • Manage a geographically dispersed team of IT/IS resources to complete all aspects of the agile program.
  • Optimize resource, software, and hardware investment.
Agile Tools
  • Exposure/use of JIRA, Confluence (Wiki) and any other Atlassian or related Agile tools.

SYF and IS Process
  • Ensure process rigor and adherence to SYF, SYF PMO, IS and Agile-SDLC policies, processes standards and budgetary practices.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years hands-on experience of Operations, IT or Information Security experience.
  • Deep knowledge of Agile practices and techniques.
  • Previous Scrum Master experience a plus.
  • Must have solid foundation of project management concepts and methods.
  • Certifications a plus, including SAFe SM, CSM, Prince 2 Agile Practitioner, PMI-ACP, etc.

  • Able to resolve conflicts: facilitate discussion and alternatives or different approaches.
  • Transparent: provide transparency to team, InfoSec and business about product/services development/delivery, thereby growing team and business trust.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment with a relentless focus on continuous improvement.
  • Possesses capability in interfacing with IS, technology and business areas.
  • Working knowledge of Application Security, IS Risk Management, Identity and Access Management (IAM), Cyber Operations, or other IT/IS practices.
  • Strong MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Visio) skills.
