POSITION SUMMARY: The candidate will be responsible for providing support services to clients with technical problems and IT issues involving Symantec Netbackup, TSM and NetApp Filer. The candidate will be responsible for providing timely resolution to problems or escalate on behalf of the customer to the appropriate technical leads and will be responsible for advising and assisting users in solving problems related to software using available technology. LEVEL OVERVIEW Troubleshoot problems, interface with customers and other departments in a large corporate environment. Self - motivated and have the ability to work with limited supervision. Ability to effectively prioritize workload, consistently deliver assignments on - time and produce high quality deliverables. Exceptional customer service skills, including telephone and written communications skills and the ability to instruct over the phone. Ability to write technical documentation.
SPECIFIC JD TO THE POSITION: Skills Required To provide 2rd level Storage Management services, support and product support for Veritas Netbackup, Tivoli storage Manager and NetApp across various accounts. Duties include provide 2rd level technical support, guidance and direction for products supported. Symantec NetBackup administration including Backup/restore for NBU 7 Manage backup related storage devices (Data Domain, NetApp VTLs, Symatec, and Quantum) NetApp Protection Manager Administration for SnapVault based backups Add clients, configure NetBackup agent on clients Final backup and removing clients for decommissioning Additional backups per Server Operations Group request Symantec OpsCenter administration Review OpsCenter on a daily basis to ensure monitoring and reporting integrity Daily review of the NBU logs and Symantec OpsCenter reports to ensure successful backups using automated log monitors or similar tools. Restart unsuccessful jobs Configuring Storage Units, Volume Pools, Disk Staging and storage life cycle policies and Creating Policies and Schedules. Monitoring backup/ restore jobs /Experience in Troubleshooting NetBackup problems. Perquisites of upgradation from TSM to NBU 6.x Unix and/or Windows systems administration experience Installation and configuration of Database agents Provide recommendations to improve the backup/recovery infrastructure, and address/lead critical issues and root cause analysis Good Knowledge on Ticketing tools and ITIL Process.
Monitoring for all NetBackup process and servers Document the backup window for all servers and the window when it can be restarted in case of failure Vaulting and tape rotation Ensure tapes are rotated from the tape library periodically. Periodic patch mgmt. and maintenance for NetBackup Servers, clients and OpsCenter Server Periodic patch management and maintenance for Protection Manager and SnapVault secondary environments Capacity management of the NetBackup infrastructure Work with the Server OPS team on any issues and escalate appropriately Expert knowledge of NAS, DAS, SAN (fabric attached architectures) Ensure adequate tape supply; coordinate tape purchases and confirm scratch tapes are returned from offsite. Create and/or improve documentation for all backup - related activities Initiate and coordinate service calls on robots. Job Responsibilities Perform general maintenance tasks, troubleshoot problems, interface with customers and other departments in a large corporate environments. Adequate knowledge of the Netbackup, system utilities to investigate Backup issues and provide accurate solutions to them Represent CompuCom in a professional manner and communicate effectively to stakeholders Excellent analytical skills - strong problem solving skills, effectively evaluates information / data to make decisions Solid interpersonal, written / verbal communication, organizational and leadership skills, communicates in a clear and succinct manner across all organizational levels The candidate will need to interact with the stakeholders and respond to their technical queries about the services. Maintain the highest level of customer satisfaction by resolving all technical and nontechnical issues and concerns.
