The Network Administrator maintains and adjusts the network as needed ensuring maximum uptime, through monitoring, auditing, and reviewing network performance and security.THE ROLE RESPONSIBILITIESManage the implementation of IT strategy for the organizationPerform the maintenance and administration of computer networks and related computing environments including computer networking hardware, software, applications, and related configurationsPerform configuration backups and testing of backup restorationParticipate in disaster recovery testing and scenario planning. Ability to perform when needed in the event of a failure requiring restoration of servicesOversee the diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving of hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary (Tier 2)Responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing network security measures to protect data, software, and hardwareSecure network by developing network access, monitoring, control, evaluation and maintaining documentationManage network performance to identify areas of opportunity for efficiency and growthPerform other duties as assignedFully applies basic principles, theories, and concepts to job assignments. Exhibits technical and operational proficiency solving problems of moderate complexity. Contributes to the completion of projects and programs in the area of expertise. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelor s Degree in Computer Science or related field (Master s Degree preferred)4+ years of related work experienceProven experience in a network administrator roleInformation Technology experience working with LAN/WAN routing and switching, load balancing, and network supportExperience with VPN connectivity for an enterprise organization (site-to-site and remote client access)COMPETENCIESSense of ownership and responsibility towards problems and solutionsAdvanced problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex issues in a timely mannerHands-on experience in networking, routing and switchingFamiliarity with backup and recovery software and methodologiesExperience in the healthcare industry preferredWorking knowledge of TCP/IP, IPSEC, Syslog, HTTP(S), SSH, SCP, DHCP, DNS, RDP, LDAP, SMTP protocols is a must. Experience with source and destination NAT is also a mustWorking knowledge of Wireless, VRRP, Netflow, Virtual IOS concepts, BGP and OSPF a plusAbility to work independently self-directedAbility to manage Cisco networking devices (IOS knowledge)Adequate knowledge in Visio, Word, Excel or equivalent toolsAbility to participate in on-call rotation - may include after-hours workUnderstanding of network SNMP monitoring and use of configuration auditing and back up toolsWorking knowledge of command-line driven configurations requiredAttention to detailPHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Tasks involve some physical effort, i.e. some standing and walking, or frequent light lifting (5-10 lb.); minimal dexterity in the use of fingers, limbs, or body in the operation of office equipment.
