With this mission, we are setting up a Data as a Service team at Novartis Hyderabad, which would work with the Chief Digital Office, Novartis Business units and industry leading technology partners, to drive the execution of Novartis data strategy , turning its rich data resources into real strategic assets to drive actionable insights across the organization. This ambition is one of key pillars in the broader digital transformation happening at Novartis to be a medicines and data science company. Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities Your responsibilities include, but not limited to: Review, curate and improve the existing lists of controlled vocabularies spanning over several business domains according to Data Strategy priorities In close collaboration with our IT partners, propose a roadmap to: improve the technological stack enabling semantic resources ingestion, management and provisioning Establish a ontology/taxonomy matching/mapping pipeline to integrate similar vocabulary lists at enterprise scale Perform mapping/matching of multiple ontologies/taxonomies used by different user groups across the organization Integrate these semantic resources to the Master Data Management system to widespread adoption by global and local data users What you ll bring to Novartis: Ontologist is responsible to provision semantic resources to data stewards and business experts in order to FAIRify enterprise data sets Ontologist will leverage external open-source standards (glossaries, dictionaries, taxonomies and ontologies), adapt them to Novartis business needs and foster their use in the company via data stewards The Ontologist is expected to bring: Deep knowledge of any of the following business domains: biomedical research & development, pharmaceutical products commercialization or production Fluency with agile ways of working Hands-on experience with semantic web principles and associated information modeling practices Minimum requirements Education (minimum/desirable): PhD in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Computer Science or related field Experience / Skills: 7-10 years of experience as a librarian or equivalent knowledge management position using semantic data modeling, data mapping, ontology/taxonomy creation, management, integration and publication Has expertise of working with RDF, RDFS, OWL, SKOS standards as well as SPARQL query language Ease with iterative way of working following an agile methodology Experienced with using semantic databases/triple stores and associated tool stacks Ability to focus on details with resilience to change and pressure Maintains high personal quality standards Has hands-on experience in any of the following domains: biomedical research & development, pharmaceutical products commercialization or production Good communication skills, ability to engage and coordinate small workgroup beyond organizational structures Why consider Novartis 799 million.
