This Job Matters as it provides technical expertise, delivering software solutions that provide business value and meet customer requirements, including necessary designs, documentation, automated testing, deployment and in-life support. The role leads a team transforming and operating technology platforms underpinning critical customer services. Any outage would have a major impact on BT s ability to trade and service its customers. You will be a supportive platform and lead by example for your matrixed team of Software Engineers, who will input into your authoritative technical recommendations to commercial decisions on new and emerging areas, that balance deliverable commitments, unit strategic decisions on software engineering, and operational performance.Youll have the following responsibilities

  • Applies specialist expertise to deliver technical work that is typically unique, complex, and high impact across multiple domains and/or requiring both breadth and depth of domain knowledge.
  • Serves as technical expert and consultant to resolve complex and strategic issues, across wider industry and/or specific sectors, and develop bespoke or leading edge, technically complex solutions (e.g., relating to new, un-tested technology and/or large scale impact of products).
  • Provides direction and strategy to define product roadmaps within domain of expertise in a highly ambiguous, complex and multi-vendor technical environment.
  • Shares knowledge and thought leadership to advance team s thinking, guide technical decisions and provide strategic level recommendations on high profile customer solutions.
  • Represents BT s technical capabilities to internal and external stakeholders (including customers, vendors and suppliers) at senior levels and provides consultation.
  • Drives team s understanding of customer and user centric technical process design, driving and implementing improvements to enhance the customer and user experience.
  • Stakeholder relationships (senior customers, vendors, suppliers) and facilitates mutually beneficial negotiations to develop solutions, ensuring they meet current and emerging business and technical needs.
  • Leads on Technology transformation as a lever to transform BT s commercial performance and operational efficiency.
  • Deep expertise of Salesforce & Salesforce Industries (Vlocity) platform architecture to drive the OOTB Implementation of the business requirement
  • Advocate platform led design thinking reducing the customisations on the platform & aligning the implementations with the Salesforce Industries Product Roadmap
  • Demonstrates thought leadership & technical expertise across key SFI functional areas e.g. Digital Commerce, EPC, CPQ, OM etc
  • Experience of setting up solution & technical assurance for Salesforce implementation & drive best practises of design/developmen
  • Understanding of the platform extensions to guide the development teams for complex implementations
  • Experience of Salesforce ecosystem tools & release processes to improve the quality of deliverables and reduce TCO of the platform
  • Demonstrates thought leadership, technical expertise and a strong customer focus.
  • Has the ability to influence and engage with senior stakeholders across Digital and CFU s, including:
o CTIO teams: Global & Enterprise o CFU s senior management teams o Digital Leadership team o Enterprise Architecture team o Partner organisations at Account Manager levelYoull have the following skills & experienceSkills required for the job:- Story-telling with data: strong skills in building the case for change, drawing on data and analytical techniques where appropriate, and communicating this to business audiences. Business acumen: Knowledgeable in business strategy and the drivers of organisational performance, including people drivers of performance and financial literacy (e.g. business KPIs, business cases)Experience you would be expected to have:- Commercial & Risk Awareness: Experience in evaluation of the obvious and subtle commercial risks/issues/challenges especially in relation to a programme/project. Experience in determining the appropriate commercial solutions. Software Development Concepts: Proficiency with the use of a wide range of programming concepts including (but not limited to): recursion, multi-threading, memory management, garbage collection. Aware of and has applied a range of algorithms, for example related to sorting and searching.
