Primary Responsibilities:
  • Support the DBMS Software, the hardware associated with the Database environments, Back-up and Recovery as well as Disaster Recovery associated with Database Management of a 100+ DB2 V9.7 and DB2 V10 databases with 4000+ users
  • Database Design Activities including Database Modeling
  • Administer and maintain our corporate DB2 data warehouse along with several operational databases
  • Operational support of our databases, the associated infra-structure, resolving database performance issues which may include working with developers, technical SMEs and business users to name a few
  • Perform a variety of tasks; be an advisor on technical issues; proactively make recommendations for improved performance and efficiencies
  • Support multiple DB2 systems including the enterprise data warehouse, operational databases in development, test, and production
  • Manage or monitor system performance
  • Consult on physical database implementations
  • Implement and administer access policies in conjunction with corporate standards
  • Participate in security audit process and procedures
  • Manage, design, support, and consult on practices of storage management, archive, restore, and disaster recovery
  • Actively participate in all phases of project development life cycle including database policies, procedures, standards and supporting documentation, database design, process flow analysis, development, benchmark analysis, performance/tuning, capacity planning, and production implementation
  • Maximize system availability, ensuring swift and complete database recovery, optimizing database availability through on-going maintenance, and ensure conformance to audit and operating standards
  • Provide status reports to senior management
  • Participate in the evaluation and recommendation of appropriate hardware and software resources for supportability of the Business requirements
  • Assist with communication interfaces/integration to associated systems (i.e. Interfacing with ETL environments)
  • Uphold enterprise policy guidelines and recommends new and improved guidelines
Required Qualifications:
  • Expertise with DB2 specific concepts, best practices and procedures
  • Experience in Database Administration (Development and Operational) using DB2 with DPF in a distributed environment using AIX as the Operating System
  • Data Modeling (Physical) experience
  • Experience working with Data Base Administrators and development teams
  • Experience with Tivoli System Automation within a HADR configuration
  • Experience with TSM as a back-up solution
  • Solid skills in AIX and Linux Operating Systems
  • Ability to work on call (rotational basis if needed 24/7)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Q-Replication and HADR set-up and Administration of HADR in conjunction with DB2
