Since strong programming and software design skills are essential, well ask you to lay out how you would solve complex management situations to understand your thought process and approach. In particular, we are looking for Software Engineers to join our Ultra data product team. A good engineer will own and operate the Ultra data pipeline for our DNS services in the Security Solutions organization. This includes the development, enhancement and maintenance of data processing services used for customer reporting and billing. Engineer will be working in a Linux environment with multiple data stores and models (RDBMS, hadoop, etc), multiple data processing technologies and multiple software languages. Neustar Ultra data ingests over 10TB/ day so Engineer will be working with big data. Engineer will ensure performance, high availability and redundancy of the services. What you will do at Neustar as an Ultra Data Software Engineer: Deliver value to our customers and do everything necessary to achieve this Be part of a global team spanning India and USA Develop/ Enhance/ Maintain code (C/ C ++ mostly but also, Perl, Python, and Java), design, test, and collaborate to get that code into production Automate everything - from building (Jenkins), testing and deploying (Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform) services Measure health and performance of the services you help build Get involved in end to end application ownership from requirements to production support. This includes building appropriate monitoring, alerting and runbooks to allow for detection, response and resolution Continuously learn new concepts and technologies and share with your team and the greater Neustar community Leverage and contribute to Neustars evolving shared infrastructure Make things better every day Qualifications/ Education Requirement Four year degree in IT, Computer Science or related field 8+ years experience developing enterprise software and services Demonstrated experience as a lead designer on a high- volume, scalable system In- depth knowledge of Linux, C/ C++ as well as other dynamic programming languages such as Perl, Python etc ETL experience Knowledge of DNS protocol and Networking is preferred Required skills: C/ C ++ Perl, Python RDMS DB Source control, build automation (GIT/ Jenkins/ Puppet etc) How to scale an application Working with distributed systems and big data (Hadoop) Scrum / Agile CI / CD Good to have Hadoop as a user Splunk as a user Python Java Deployment automation Neustar does not accept unsolicited resumes from external firms or agencies.
