Job Description

Looking for a Technical Analyst with skills in big data analytics, including statistical and machine learning frameworks and algorithm development, and with research. Our growing data driven research requires a Technical Analyst with skills in big data analytics, including statistical and machine learning frameworks and algorithm development, and with research interests in the digital economy. This position will be ideal for someone who has a background stepping stone PhD program. Salary is attractive, commensurate with skill set and experience. Contract duration is a minimum of 1 year.Responsibilities

  • Extract data through web crawling and content mining from social media sites like Twitter, and other open source datasets.
  • lgorithm development using statistical and machine learning frameworks such as xploratory data analysis using NLP and Probabilistic Modelling. Basic econometric analyses applications in business and strategy.Skills and Qualifications
    • Bachelor s Degree in Computer Engineering
    • Prior data mining experience
    • Overall high proficiency in both Python and R (not wedded to either). Quick with implementing algorithms and building software prototypes.
    • Comfortable with basic optimization (e.g. Batch gradient descent, SGD, Adagrad etc.) and with fitting generalized linear models
    • Comfortable with exploratory data analysis, building and manipulating dictionaries, lists, data frames etc.
    • Fluency in the above specific skills must be complemented with the following:
    • Ability to collect, clean, large volumes of data. cleaning and manipulating existing large datasets (cross sectional and time series) and infographics generation (must know both ggplot2 and matplotlib) Ability to disseminate research results through web GUI and dashboards
    • Prior experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS is a plus.
    • Basic to intermediate skills in applied statistics, linear regressions, and econometrics
