Manager Software Engineering - Telco Enablement and Solutions groupLocation Remote GermanyPosting date 33 minutes ago(3/3/2021 10:16 AM)Job ID 84760 Category Software Engineering Job summary The Red Hat Ecosystem Engineering team is looking for a Manager to join our Telco Enablement and Solutions group. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, leading, and growing a geographically distributed team of engineers. You and your team will contribute directly to enabling strategic 5G and next generation telco service provider offerings and solutions. You will engage early and work closely with partners in Red Hat s partner ecosystem, peer groups in Ecosystem Engineering, and Red Hat product and sales teams, and in open source communities and standards bodies. Project activities include building proof of concepts using Red Hat platforms, working with partners to onboard workloads, designing repeatable solutions, integrating solutions into continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) pipelines, and providing technical guidance for Certification programs. To be successful in this role you will need to effectively balance business priorities and team capacity, while embracing and amplifying Red Hat s core values of freedom, courage, commitment and accountability. Successful applicants must reside in a country where Red Hat is registered to do business. Primary job responsibilities

  • Manage, lead, and grow a high performance team of engineers
  • Contribute to delivery of Ecosystem Engineering s objectives through the definition and delivery of strategic goals and tactical objectives of the Telco Enablement and Solutions group
  • Proactively manage your team s technical contributions and delivery of telco enablement projects and telco solutions
  • Facilitate success by working with Red Hat partners, stakeholders, project managers, product managers, and engineers across multiple teams to ensure priorities are coordinated and effective collaboration
  • Be your team s advocate when negotiating project work, schedules, deadlines, and priorities
  • Coach, mentor, and guide your team, fostering continuous improvement in a rapidly changing environment
  • Ensure the team s work is promoted and publicized through blogs, web postings, and conference talks
  • Coordinate knowledge sharing within and outside the company
  • Lead all associates in managing their professional careers and personal growth
Required skills
  • Experience managing and recruiting a team of engineers
  • Ability to constructively collaborate with senior managers and peer managers
  • Effective team coaching, mentoring, training, and leadership skills
  • Flexibility to work with a geographically distributed remote working team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in telco or systems engineering and software development
  • Experience in a customer or partner facing role
  • Experience in the application of industry development methodologies to the delivery of software products and solutions
The following are considered a plus:
  • Experience with Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat CoreOS, other Red Hat products, or industry cloud or virtualization technologies
  • History of contributing to open source communities
  • Proficiency in Linux operation and administration
  • Experience with Linux system programming
  • Experience with software testing or CI/CD pipelines
  • Relevant domain-specific knowledge and experience like involvement in open source communities or standards bodies, network functions virtualization (NFV), software defined networking (SDN), cloud-native applications and architectures, and 5G core or 5G radio access network (RAN)
