Job Description

The ideal candidate is super detail-oriented, curious, and analytical. We re looking for process improvers that can easily pick up and own the payroll operations function with minimal supervision and take pride in providing a world-class employee experience with a human-centered approach. There is a wealth of knowledge to be learned and we re looking for a team player that is excited to jump right in!What youll do:

  • Ensure accurate processing of payroll, including salary, bonus, commissions, benefits, and taxes to ensure that Articulate is compliant with 50 federal, state, and local county regulations
  • Process accurate and timely submission of employee 401k deferral changes and contributions into the plan
  • Liaise with company payroll provider to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely processing
  • Research payroll issues independently, demonstrating high analytical ability; knowledge of best practices and an understanding of federal and state payroll tax and labor law developments
  • Work with PEO company to answer any payroll queries for international teams
  • Review and approve changes in exemptions and insurance coverage
  • Assist with the registration for new State/SUI/Local payroll tax as needed and add the new State/SUI/Local tax jurisdictions into Paylocity
  • Document and maintain administrative and compliance procedures for assigned benefits processes
  • Coordinate benefits processing. Handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, etc.
  • Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files, maintain HRIS and update employee payroll records and perform monthly benefits reconciliation
  • Survey industry trends. Complete benefits surveys and review information obtained from the results; Analyze complex benefits information; Forecast trends and assist with future benefits designs; Assist with the development of specific recommendations for review by management
  • Perform quality checks of all benefits-related data
  • Partner cross-functionally to compile data for various benefits and compliance audits
  • Assist with determining payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employers social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments
  • Follow-up on all notices received from Federal and State Agencies
  • Maintain payroll master file to ensure accurate payroll reconciliation for each pay period
  • Serve as the point person for and preparer of all payroll-related ad hoc reporting requests
  • Respond to employee inquiries and requests regarding payroll and benefits in a timely manner
  • Run and create (ad-hoc) reports out of Paylocity Report Writer on an as-needed basis
  • Work on ad-hoc projects, such as Audits etc
What you should have:
  • Min of 5 years full cycle payroll processing experience
  • Experience with multi states, including set up in new states
  • Experience with Paylocity a plus
  • Process improvement mentality and ferocious curiosity
  • Strong systems knowledge, including the ability to quickly learn new systems
  • Knowledge and mindset for automation and improvements to streamline processes for scalability
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Excellent organization skills with attention to detail and completeness
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as ability to collaborate closely with other teams remotely
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and judgment
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal payroll and tax regulations
  • Proficient in MS Excel (VLookups, Pivot tables, and other formulas) and Google Sheets
