It may not be for every role, and, as part of the recruitment process, you ll have the chance to discuss smart working and how it might work for the job you are applying for.About this roleWe are hiring in an exciting role as a Risk and Control manager, where you will make a real impact in an important area within BT.As Risk and Control manager, you would be required to support the controls transformation within the Unify programme, forming a Controls workstream responsible for providing consultative steer and direction for inclusion of the right level of system and process controls input across all Unify transformation initiatives.You will have knowledge in Sarbanes Oxley/COSO, or alternatively risk and controls transformation experience. You will also have experience of producing Risk and Controls documentation (process flows, process narratives and Risk and controls matrixes) as well as experience of carrying out Design effectiveness assessments (DEA) and operational effectiveness testing (OET). Experience of remediation and managing relationships with external auditors, internal control and process owners will also be key to the role.Business and/or IT controls transformation experience will be required, a background in project management and/or controls transformation is also highly beneficial especially in SAP or Oracle implementations and migrations. Any experience around Billing systems is also highly beneficial as well as data transfer controls.Our Risk and controls manager will need to be able to map and document the IT architecture of how all the Billing systems interface and how date flows between the various systems. You will need to identify and document all material key risks and controls. Existing controls should be challenged and rationalised (remove or merge controls) with the rationale for why they are not material clearly documented.Having strong stakeholder management skills will be pivotal for this role, you will be confident and be able to be persistent to ensure that all evidence required is obtained in a timely manner or any delays escalated immediately.Youll have the following responsibilities

  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley Act provisions/COSO and methodologies for achieving compliance
  • Process documentation (process flows, process narrative and Risk and control matrixes)
  • Ultimately responsible to ensure compliance with internal regulations (ICOFR) and established controls
  • The ability to document Technical flow diagrams to show the interaction between all the Billing systems and to ensure that all material risks and controls are documented
  • Testing design and operational effectiveness of key controls
  • Ability to resolve challenges and remediate any issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • IT SOX specialists should have experience over change management, SOD Rule sets, Data transfers etc. And have experience across multiple applications.

  • Solid understanding of internal control concepts (e.g. COSO, COBIT, ICOFR)

  • Hold an Accounting qualification
  • Accounting, Auditing, Knowledge of Legal and Financial Systems

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications including Visio
  • Knowledge of Finance applications such as Oracle or SAP
