Senior Program Manager, Strategic Program PortfolioPosting Location : Location RaleighPosting date 2 days ago(5/6/2021 9:00 AM)Job ID 86625 Job summary The Red Hat IT team is looking for a Senior Program Manager to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will lead cross functional business stakeholders and leaders to develop end-to-end solutions in support of Red Hat s strategic framework. The Strategic Program Portfolio is a collection of significant investments in the modernization of Red Hats operations and directly supports realization of our multi-year strategy. You will have the opportunity to engage early on in the development of this program and provide influence into the structure and management. You will have the opportunity to join a highly cross functional and collaborative team who lead and provide support to the top strategic programs across Red Hat. As a Senior Program Manager you will be responsible for managing projects and programs through the full portfolio and project life cycles. You will be responsible for delivering quality outcomes within budget and timeline, while meeting expectations of customer satisfaction and business adoption. We ll need you to be motivated to engage with all business functions to guide and enable their success, agile in response to changes and needs of various stakeholders, and analytical in identifying risks, opportunities, and dependencies across the program. Well need you to have great communication skills and an appreciation for the sensitivity of the work as you collaborate with diverse stakeholders and teams throughout all project phases. Primary job responsibilities

  • Facilitate partnership and collaboration through a new cross-functional governance structure to bring multiple stakeholders to the table making decisions on vision, requirements, scope, risk mitigation, etc.
  • Facilitate a critical portfolio council of cross functional leaders and subject matter experts working as a united team with an aligned vision of a future state they actively champion and support within their home organizations
  • Help transition stakeholders to working in collaborative and cross-functional methodologies while balancing needs at the business function levels
  • Participate at an enterprise portfolio and program level to ensure success of end-to-end solution delivery within the context of the broader portfolio of integrated programs
  • Partner with the Finance team to guide business case development, ideation, and discovery, consulting partner evaluation, selection, and funding
  • Partner with business functions, IT, and vendors to define a work plan to support their approach, identify resource needs and interdependencies with other workstreams and strategic programs Ensure integration into the enterprise program portfolio
  • Maintain and track scheduled events and project or program milestones to ensure deliverables are completed according to established deadlines
  • Manage and escalate risks and issues as needed, anticipate program needs, and formulate solutions, and respond to the variability involved in any key initiative
  • Provide leadership and structure to how the program team will maintain effective working relationships, and provide timely updates on progress in accordance with defined program status and governance
  • Provide project management support including waterfall and agile methods
  • Guide projects considering organizational change management implications, considering communication, stakeholder management, training, and adoption
  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality in all areas pertaining to data and proprietary information
  • Use an open and collaborative approach to the program leaning into transparency and collaboration
  • Manage a complex stakeholder landscape within sensitive topics and help the parties practice the 3 D s; discuss, debate and decide
Required skills
  • 12+ years of relevant program and project management experience
  • Experience in leading digital transformation projects where technology and organizational change go hand in hand to deliver long term sustainability
  • Experience working with senior level executives and system integrators
  • Bachelors degree; Masters degree us a plus
  • Consulting background or mindset
  • Expertise in project management methodologies, tools, and techniques; PMP is a plus
  • Expertise creating project plans, schedules, and resourcing plans with project management tools like Microsoft Project or Smartsheet
  • Successful experience in project management with third party vendors
  • Solid communication, stakeholder, and relationship management skills
  • Ability to synthesize and analyze complex data to identify potential risks and draw meaningful conclusions
  • Global mindset, demonstrated professional approach, and customer focus
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; good at working with technology and subject matter experts in the business
  • Proven success as a project manager working with globally distributed, cross-functional teams on large-scale, enterprise projects
  • Comfortable operating in rapidly changing environments
