Job Description

This role is a senior position as part of the Credit Production Management team at JPMorgan Services India Pvt Ltd (Mumbai). The global team is responsible for supporting proprietary and external technology platforms powering the Credit Trading business along with its user base of traders, middle office & operations personnel. The team covers front-to-back support, covering electronic trading, algo trading, EOD Risk, post trade & a wide variety of other tools and platforms. The team is comprised of 50+ staff across 7 locations globally.This specific role has two primary responsibilities:

  1. Co-Head of Credit EOD Risk support Functionally, the successful candidate will hold responsibility for co-leading the EOD Risk team. This will involve directly managing 5-6 resources in Mumbai, covering a complex technology stack that produces Risk & P&L metrics for 300+ traders and 50+ Product Controllers globally. This critical data is used to risk manage and make trading decisions. The stack involves multiple applications currently undergoing significant investment and modernization, including migrations onto new internal private-cloud platforms, as well as AWS. The team in Mumbai covers 06:30-18:30 IST Monday-Saturday, on a rotational basis. Overnight coverage is provided by a partner team in Argentina. The lead will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the team, most notably including management of major incidents, root cause analysis exercises and partnering with senior application development teams on proactive initiatives to improve stability and resiliency of the platform.
  2. Credit Production Management Mumbai Lead Site management responsibility for ~20 resources in Mumbai. The group comprises 4 distinct teams:
    1. Credit EOD Risk Production Management
    2. Credit Post Trade / eTrading Production Management
    3. Credit SRE
The successful candidate will be responsible for local people management for all these resources, partnering closely with global functional leads to mentor, performance manage and co-ordinate hiring, as well as acting as a local escalation point where required.Whilst JPMorgan is currently recognized as the world s leading Credit Trading franchise, it remains a significant growth area within the firm, and the technology stack is undergoing significant investment and transformation. The successful candidate will be joining a team that is growing significantly, and have significant opportunities to work with senior Trading & Technology stakeholders on high-profile systems, and work on a wide variety of technologies, including new platforms being developed in Kubernetes & on AWS.Working in Application Support means youll use both creative and critical thinking skills to maintain application systems that are crucial to the daily operations of the firm. Youll work collaboratively in teams on a wide range of projects based on your primary area of focus: design or programming. While learning to fix application and data issues as they arise, youll also gain exposure to software development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and improvement, in addition to production lifecycle methodologies and risk guidelines. Finally, youll have the opportunity to develop professionally and to grow your career in any direction you choose. This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in an application support, application development, DevOps or SRE role, and a minimum 3 years of experience as a Team Lead.
  • Previous experience working on a front-office aligned support team is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience / product knowledge of Fixed Income is highly desirable.
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and inquisitive. Able to demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and personal accountability.
  • Proven expertise in application development and support environment with more than one technology and multiple design techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of development toolset to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software
  • Proficiency in one or more general purpose programming (Java, Python, .Net, C++, etc.)
  • Understanding of risk controls and compliance to departmental and company-wide standards
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals

The role s technical skill set desires are as follows:
  • Working knowledge in one or more general purpose programming languages, plus an interest in learning other coding languages previous experience of Python would be an advantage
  • Working knowledge of development toolset to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals
  • Knowledge of LINUX/UNIX operating systems, i.e., executing functional commands
  • Knowledge of scheduling tools (Autosys, Control M)
  • Basic Cloud knowledge would be an advantage (AWS or Kubernetes)
  • Experience with database technologies, i.e., ability to develop and execute SQL queries
  • Experience or knowledge of working in a DevOps / SRE model would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools like such as Geneos, Splunk or DynaTrace
  • Knowledge of development tools (Jenkins, Git, BitBucket)
