Job Description

Position Overview

ISS ESG is seeking an experienced ESG research and methodology expert to join the Global ESG Methodology team in our Mumbai, India location as a Methodology Expert.

ESG Methodology is a horizontal function across all ESG research and solution verticals, ensuring high quality and consistency of methodologies, innovative solutions and gold standard in research and resulting signals.

The focus of the ESG Methodology Expert role will be to work with the Global ESG Methodology team in driving business critical methodology and quality management projects for ISS ESG.

ISS ESG teams are based in the Philippines, the US, Australia, Germany, Sweden, India, and the UK. The successful candidate will work both independently as well as collaboratively with the local team and colleagues across our global offices. Working in a dynamic market and international environment, we put great emphasis on cooperation and offer a welcoming, collegial working atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Build a thorough understanding of ESG solutions with focus on Norm-Based Research, Screening Solutions, ESG Ratings and SDG Impact Solutions
  • Working on business-critical methodology and quality projects, comprising rating approaches, including rating scale, scoring system and thresholds, protocols on non-public information, non-interference and conflicts of interest, and new thematic / alternative assets products developments, building up quality management and assurance structures and protocols across ISS ESG
  • Establish deep relationships and partner with research and product teams to facilitate methodology developments and quality protocols
  • Monitor developments in the responsible investment space, review and affirm alignment of our methodology and quality approach with relevant regulatory and voluntary standards

Qualifications

  • 3+ years or more of professional experience with ESG research, solutions and services for institutional investors
  • Experience with or knowledge in quality management regimes and techniques
  • Strong conceptional, technical (Excel-based) and analytical skills, particularly in the areas of quantitative research, analysis and data management
  • Solutions- and execution-oriented approach
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, a self-driven work ethic, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work within a team-oriented cross-functional environment and communicate with various internal parties; experience working with teams located in multiple cities and countries preferred.
  • Fluency in English; additional language capabilities especially Japanese, Korean or Mandarin are an asset
  • High energy, passion, and drive, with a strong positive outlook.
