This group is responsible for developing enterprise applications for a diverse set of business functions including Prime Brokerage, PWM, BRM, Corporate Treasury, Operations, Risk Management, Finance Legal, Compliance and HRThe role of senior technical lead is within a department providing a range of level 2 production management services to the Operations business unit at Morgan Stanley. The department covers systems supporting the Operations business units activities such as settlements, confirmations, regulatory reporting and positions keeping. Although experience of Operations systems and business flow is not essential the role requires that this is developed. The role gives an opportunity to build this knowledge from scratch or to further build on past experience including taking Morgan Stanley business unit certification. Primary Responsibilities: Acting as an escalation point from our level 1 group the level 2 team provides production management services including end user support, systems monitoring, incident and problem management, plant management and event management You will run a set of workflow management, internal inquiry, reporting, contact management, banking operations and confirmations systems (predominantly developed in house and deployed on a distributed Linux platform using Sybase and DB2 databases and a range of both internal and external connectivity over channels including TCP-IP, MQ and SWIFT). End user GUIs are a mixture of C++ clients and web based sessions. Scripting and tool development is encouraged to help perform data analysis and commoditise request resolution steps. The Firm is moving towards a DevOps model with closer engagement with development team to improve stability and reducing repetition. Previous experience of working in teams with an emphasis on constant improvement would be beneficial Oversight of vendor staff in an engineering sub-team and involvement in this group is also possible for the right candidate. Aiding trouble shooting with strong technical skills in both the Linux environment and Sybase/DB2 databases, so we can aim to keep resolution within the L2 team. Problem management to seek the cause of inefficiencies we face, to enables us to take a metrics driven approach to prioritising work. The holder of this role would be a key contributor to cross department initiatives opening up the possibility of visibility to a broad set of the Firm. The role offers an interesting mix of technical and business challenges allowing the holder to develop an in-depth understanding of how Morgan Stanleys Operations business works., * Skills required (essential):3 to 8 Years of experience Proven track record of working in Level 2+ production management of distributed systems. Experience in financial services required Strong PM experience of Linux environment .i.e. administration and basic infrastructure. Strong PM experience of Sybase and Db2 database support. Experience with SQL de-bugging and performance tuning Perl and shell scripting Incident Management Experience of end user support Experience of working in a global team Good verbal and written communication skills Good organization and coordination skills Skills desired: Experience with the settlements process is a plus MQ and Autosys. Experience with large batch or MQ based systems. Exposure to XML Strong problem solving skills and an ability to learn rapidly on-the-job Self-motivated, ability to identify and resolve issues with minimal oversight Understanding of DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering for constant improvement. Works well in a dynamic, fast paced environment
