Job Description

    Opportunity for Chief Impact Officer-MagicBus-Mumbai/NoidaAbout Magic Bus:- Founded in 1999, Magic Bus works with children and young people living in poverty, in India, taking them from a childhood full of challenges to a life with meaningful livelihoods. We equip children and young people in the age group of 12 to 18, with the skills and knowledge they need to grow up and move out of poverty.- Children on the Magic Bus programme successfully fend off destabilizers such as child marriage and child labor to complete school and become first-generation salary earners having secure careers in the organized sector.- Our youth-centered Livelihoods Programme connects the aspirations and potential of young people to available market opportunities. We build their employability skills and map job potential based on individual strengths and mobility.- We work with support structures like parents, teachers, the community at large and local government institutions to ensure social, emotional and economic well-being for all young people living in that area. Our approach mobilizes the entire ecosystem available to the child or young person to create transformational change in their lives.Specific tasks & responsibilities:- Define and strengthen Magic Bus impact footprint, it impact strategy and plan in line with the vision-mission and agreement on key organizational goals and outcomes for both adolescent and livelihood programmes- Ensure impact rigors and measurement designs conform to the highest standards, drive innovation and provide an insight into quantitative and qualitative change over time- Ascertain the impact team is situated to provide best in class support to capture and share programme results across different projects through strategic guidance and mentoring - Introduce new perspectives, methodologies and redefine the role of the function from an operational to being strategic partner in the day-to-day working of the organization.- Develop a proficient and thriving team. Coach, train, and develop them, ensuring clear communication pathways are established and maintained, and expectations and roles are aligned with the organization goals - Lead and undertake survey and thematic studies to contribute to programme strengthening and discourse building around adolescent life skills education and youth skills and ensure the results meet global standards in terms of research papers and publications in peer reviewed journals - Strategize ways to ensure programme quality and impact ; standardize result areas across domains, over time and for different types of donors and impact investors, build rigors and efficiency through use of technology and develop robust programme data and result validation processes- Enable use of programme impact data to drive evidence based advocacy with key stakeholders, primarily the government to improve interventions meat to benefit adolescents and youth- Drive partnerships and liaise with key government and ecosystem partners and provide visibility for how the change brought about by Magic Bus efforts is contributing to achievement of policy goals of some of the large scale government initiatives - NEP, youth policy, skills development programmes, RKSK, among others.- Conceptualise and lead knowledge management within Magic Bus and provide substantive inputs, bring new evidence, sectoral thinking to the fore for internal strategizing and reflection, as well as facilitate building thought leadership with the domain areas of life skills education and youth skilling and the sector- Drive cross functional connect especially programme development- implementation and impact and further with strategic communications, while effectively representing Magic Bus on different forums as a member of the senior management team. Desired Competencies:- Knowledge research, evaluation and impact assessment across the domains in which Magic Bus operates.- Strong Programmatic understanding and deep experience in the development sector- Operational excellence and process driven- Ability to connect with key stakeholders that include donors, partners and Government- Business savvy, strategic in nature and is able to translate them into operating plan- Has an eye for detail and can systematize processes - Self-starter, right attitude, communicates effectively, strong interpersonal relationship and analytical abilities, - Understanding of benefits of technology, inspire people across levels and exceptional team handling capabilities.Qualification & Work experience:- Post Graduate in Social work or other social sciences relevant to the development sector- 25 years experience in the social development sector in Impact assessment, Monitoring & Evaluation at the leadership level and change management at the grassroots.- Experience reflects engagement with diverse sectoral issues, at progressively senior levels, with previous leadership role in driving the impact function is desirable - Preferred experience in a large social sector organization of the size and scale of Magic Bus- Proven domain expertise and track record in the impact space through research and publications to credit and leading large scale impact led interventions- Experience of high level policy advocacy and in building government partnerships is desirable Reporting to: Global Chief Executive Officer,
