They might help to structure a complex and sensitive cross-border transaction; advise on a new product introduction; develop a training program or defuse an investor dispute. They preserve the firm s invaluable reputation for integrity and protect the firm from sanctions with policies and procedures that meet regulatory requirements around the world. They also strive to maintain cooperative relationships with governmental policy makers and the regulatory and self-regulatory agencies that govern the firm s businesses.Visualization and Reporting is a function in the Legal and Compliance Division responsible for driving the design, development, and coordination of scalable interactive graphical solutions used in reporting, data exploration, and to support effective decision making, evaluating alternative approaches and tools used for gaining descriptive, predictive, and ultimately prescriptive visual insight, and partnering with technical developers as well as the key stakeholders to formulate the visual component in terms of user business objectives, requirements, technical aspects, data input, and to support the visual approach.The visualization solutions are used in the surveillance monitoring, testing, and management reporting areas. An example of these visual tools is to help evaluate profiling of risk factors and trending to identify suspicious and/or illegal behaviors like money laundering, market manipulation, insider trading, unfair sales or trading practices and other financial crimes.Position DescriptionThe Visualization and Reporting Analyst position serves as the foundation of the visual aspect of the program, ensuring highest impact and value to business decision making related to graphical insight. This position brings the knowledge and experience of visual analytics and up to date alternative approaches to the program.The analyst serves to liaise with end users in the formation of a plan and document requirements with respect to the visual aspect, establishing success criteria, analysis of building an understanding of data needs, and leading the effort to produce high quality scalable visual solutions.The analyst will work on designing and developing solutions using a variety of visualization tools with Tableau as the primary tool of focus. The position brings structure to the visual aspect of the program including, reviewing graphical design principles, weighing alternatives, and describing the minimum viable product.Visual solutions in this area require a balance of hands-on approach and leadership and coordination role to understanding the data, including relational or other structured database platforms, such as Hadoop, and technical aspects and a in depth knowledge and experience of visual tools, including Tableau. Skills in data manipulation and preparation are necessary to be effective. A strong database/SQL skill and working knowledge of technical programming is needed as there is a need to interface with a variety of technical sources.The role requires working directly with stakeholders across Compliance teams to understand the problem and then design and test the appropriate solution. It would also require interface with Compliance Technology while implementing the solution. The expectation is that the selected candidate would gradually build knowledge in the Firm s businesses and expertise in the regulatory and reputational risks that are being mitigated.Primary ResponsibilitiesWork both independently and with a technical team in the design and development of solutions that generate visual insights with a variety of tools including Tableau. Work directly with technology platform, connecting to a wide variety of sources (such as trading data, monitoring data, and other Finance and Compliance related data) to collect, analyze and document data requirements. Evaluate alternatives in approach and design to create visual solution that best meets the business objectives. Effective communication with stakeholders in the requirements, planning, and execution of deliverables. Maintain strong SDLC practices to enable scalable, efficient and maintainable solutions Document solutions for technical audience as well for senior management and regulators Help to drive innovation and continuous improvement within the global Compliance Monitoring and Testing programs through execution of strategic projects Keep abreast of industry trends in the Data Visualization space as well as Compliance and Data Analytics areas., *QUALIFICATIONSRequired SkillsUndergraduate degree in Mathematics, Science or Engineering 2+ years of experience with design and implementation of visual solutions including Tableau and other visualization/business intelligence tools (QlikView, PowerBI, etc.) Working knowledge with a programming language (such as R, Java, or Scala) Strong skills in data manipulation and database SQL skills. Microsoft Office tools, Excel, VBA Experience working on a Unix / Linux environment Experience with manipulating large data sets across Hadoop or inverted index stores like Elastic Search Strong business analysis skills Ability to work with global, cross-functional teams Excellent written and oral communication skillsPreferred SkillsUnderstanding of financial markets
