Job Description

  • Take a forward-looking perspective, taking into consideration external events which may be material to this region. Ensure appropriate management action is being taken to mitigate their impact.
Business
  • To support the Financial Markets and Treasury Markets in the management of Traded Risk.
  • Assist in maintaining and developing the Function s capabilities and skills to meet ongoing business growth, needs and plans
Processes
  • To continuously improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the function.
  • To provide new product recommendation in terms of risk measurement, limits and monitoring requirements. Ensure relevant risk measures, controls and processes are in place before approving the launch of new products.
  • Drive and ensure Traded Risk Framework are implemented in the country and align with the region
People and Talent
  • Uphold and reinforce the independence of Traded Risk Management function from the front line.
  • Set out achievable goals and objectives to deliver within the year
  • Take initiative to enhance FM knowledge as well as personal development by attending trainings.
Risk Management
  • To uphold the integrity of the Groups risk/return decisions, and in particular to ensure that Traded Risk in China are properly assessed, that risk/return decisions are made transparently on the basis of this proper assessment, and are controlled in accordance with the China and Groups Risk Appetite.
  • Ensure that the Group s Traded risk framework for the management of Traded risks is appropriately and consistently applied in China
  • Continuously enhance risk measures and transparency.
  • Support local risk-wide initiatives/projects such as recovery planning, ICAAP, FRTB etc
  • Timely escalation and concise communication of key exposures.
  • Regular portfolio review and explain key risk drivers from counterparty level.
  • Provide independent local view, and approval for structured financing deals and other credit products booked within SCB China.
  • Identify and report key risks material to the Group and challenge the First Line to evidence that the material risks arising from their business activities have been identified, assessed, monitored and reported.
  • To review, recommend, discuss and analyse traded risk data and other financial product information with a view of setting risk parameters sufficient to protect the Group from extreme loss
  • Identify and escalate new and emerging risks that could be material to the country. Recommend relevant governance to control these emerging risks to help the bank to avoid big loss.
  • Monitor internal and external events material to the country and ensure appropriate management action is being taken to mitigate their impact
  • To create transparency and escalate in a timely manner to relevant stakeholders regarding the key exposures in the region
  • To challenge business and control function heads to demonstrate that risk origination and control decisions are properly informed and consistent with strategy and Risk Appetite
  • Assist and design and oversee the implementation of relevant stress tests and scenario analysis for the country
  • Ensure that traded risk measurement methodologies are fit-for-purpose, comprehensive and implemented with integrity
  • Ensure that risk decisions are transparent and supporting rationales are explained in a professional courteous manner, especially when turning down proposals.
  • Responsibility for regular or ad-hoc traded risk activities reports / information / analysis to management.
Governance
  • To address local regulatory requirements as they pertain to risk management, prudential standards and governance, conduct and operational standards.
  • To assist in driving a consistent interpretation and application of traded risk policies across all countries in the region.
  • To monitor on-going compliance with and effectiveness of the risk control environment.
  • To ensure that there are appropriate and documented internal controls and procedures in place. Monitor the operation of such procedures and controls and regularly review them to ensure that they reflect any changes in products, systems, policy and regulations.
  • To ensure effective management of operational risks within the Function and compliance with applicable internal policies, and external laws and regulations
  • To maintain procedures for monitoring, management and reporting of operational risks arising within area of responsibility.

  • Maintain appropriate relationships with Regulators and liaise with internal / external auditors and manage various audit reviews isplay exemplary conduct and live by the Group s Values and Code of Conduct.

This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Academic Qualifications: Qualifications in a numerate, quantitative discipline (e.g. Science, engineering, economics, Finance)
  • Bachelor or above degree
  • Professional Experience: Experienced Traded Risk Manager with detailed knowledge and understanding of financial markets and products especially China Credit bond market like ABS, LGFV and CRE Sectors.
  • Good understanding of Treasury markets
  • Having knowledge for trading, balance sheet management and risk management system platforms. Basic knowledge of pricing models.
  • Team player and able to excel under pressure
  • Good communication skills and quick learner
  • Completion of internal mandatory and specific developmental training plans.
  • Language: Fluent in English.
