This position is for a test engineer who will perform testing and support the project team on Ovation Digital Twin and its tools with subject expertise on high fidelity first principle-based power plant simulators. The person would leverage his power plant expertise, process knowledge, thermodynamic, fluid dynamic, and high-fidelity simulator knowledge to support personnel developing power plant simulators using the Ovation Digital Twin. The successful candidate will work as part of a global development team These simulators consist of all types of fossil power plants; sub-critical and super-critical pulverized coal, simple and combined cycle, CFB as well as aspects of nuclear plants, hydro plants, renewables (e.g. wind, solar, geothermal, etc.) and electrical systems/grid effects. The simulation environment is integral to the Ovation distributed control system. These simulators are used for operator training, engineering analysis/design/testing and in the future will be utilized in novel real-time applications as an integrated part of the Ovation DCS. The models themselves will consist of the differential/algebraic equations that describe the steady-state, transient and startup/cold conditions of the equipment being modeled. The ideal candidate is expected to have extensive knowledge of power plant systems and controls design with in-depth experience in power plant operation.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Use power process, thermodynamic, fluid dynamic, and power plant system knowledge to support and advise projects personnel in the use of Ovation Digital Twin algorithms. Identify concerns and help resolve issues related to implementation and report to the development team product related issues In collaboration with the projects team test simulation algorithms against design and plant operational data using the integrated models developed by the project. Ensure test criteria for this level of testing is clearly defined and implemented in the team Develop, plan, and perform test for the scenarios as required by the development team Review algorithm user documentation for accuracy and usability Report observations in a Defect reporting tool Prepare & tune model control sheets for boiler, balance of plant, main steam, steam turbine, generator, & electrical Validate the findings that have been fixed for upcoming software builds Collaborate with global software development and testing teams to successfully test Ovation Digital Twin and its Tools, *EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE4-7 years experience with atleast 3 years in power plant operation, control, or simulation roles In-depth knowledge of power plant systems and equipment design and operation A degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline Extensive experience in power plant design, operation, and simulation will be considered equivalent to the formal education requirementsREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:Knowledge of the physics and operation of power plants Knowledge of electrical grid Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, electrical, and mechanical systems Knowledge of control theory and/or power plant control experience Experience performing detailed heat and mass balance calculations Experience performing combustion calculations Excellent English written and verbal skills Ability to work as part of a teamOther Advantages:Experience with DCS or PLC applications Knowledge of software testing methods Knowledge of power plant simulator architectures and computing platforms
