Job Description

Skills / Experience required:

  • Work experience 6months - 1 year in any IT work environment, preferably with a focus on DB development and support
  • Excellent Academic qualifications in-Engineering / MCA / MCS, CDAC (Certificate in Oracle 91)
  • Good understanding of various Oracle Objects (functions, procedures, trigger, etc)
  • Clarity in Concepts of DDL, DML, DCL
  • Skilled in object oriented development inc collections, cursors,
  • Good Understanding of relational DBMS and DB querying
  • Good organization, analysis, and planning skills with a Self-driven work ethic
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Has done corporate Project work or Internships in DB/ETL domains
Preferred:
  • Understanding of DB/ ETL software Oracle 9i, SSIS etc
  • Basic understanding of Unix Shell script commands

Some of the responsibilities are:

  • Work closely with configuration analysts to transform business system designs into bug-free application software. Responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining and supporting applications software in its technical area and toolset.
  • Execute unit test to ensure all business rules in the BSD and technical options in the CSD are properly covered by the application. Deliver bug-free programs to the configuration analyst for string/integration testing.
  • Work with configuration analysts to understand business requirements and scope, mapping these requirements to the proper technical solution. Apply experience and knowledge of different development options to evaluate multiple alternatives and determine the optimal technical solution for Medline.
  • Understand the development framework, application architecture and technical architecture to create solutions that fit in to the overall system landscape.
  • Consider long-term data storage needs, performance of the application and restart/recovery factors during the design and development process.
  • Develop program code with consideration of future reuse of newly developed code, modularizing and documenting appropriately.
  • Follow departmental and team standards as they apply to source code control and transport management.
  • Debug code in technical area of expertise for functional and performance issues.
  • Display an understanding of debugging techniques when investigating issues with programs.
  • Available as on-call support, on limited occasions, during non-working hours as per team support schedule and for supporting critical deployments.
  • Consider data sensitivity and process control to determine security and user authorization impacts. Work with manager and with corporate auditing to ensure that access to systems and data are authorized only to the proper people.
  • Occasional and short-term USA visits for Orientation, Trainings and major Project Kick-offs.
