Job Description

    Amazon Alexa is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer who is looking to work in a new space to help define how we use data to understand customer behavior and satisfaction. In this role, you will develop and support the analytic technologies that give our teams flexible and structured access to their data, including managing a Data and BI platform, metrics and KPIs, and automating reporting.The successful candidate will be an expert with SQL, ETL (and general data wrangling) and have exemplary communication skills. The candidate will need to be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, and able to think big while paying careful attention to detail.Key job responsibilitiesYou know and love working with business intelligence tools, can model multidimensional datasets, and can partner with customers to answer key business questions.You will also have the opportunity to: Design, implement, and support a platform providing access to large datasets Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL Model data and metadata for ad hoc and pre-built reporting Interface with business customers, gathering requirements and delivering complete reporting solutions Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation Continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers Participate in strategic & tactical planning discussions, including annual budget processesAbout the teamThis position is on the ASK Skill Quality team. Our goal is to bring the best-in-class tooling to developers to help them build highly engaging skills. We do this by building publicly available intelligent and intuitive web-based tools that help skill-builders confidently release skills and continuously improve their performance. E.g., our simulation and testing tools let developers test and debug their skills without requiring a physical Alexa device before and after a Skill is launched. Our evaluation tools enable developers to evaluate the speech recognition (ASR) and natural language (NLU) performance of their Skill and make changes to the skill model to address issues. Our analytics APIs and console provide developers access to 100+ metrics and actionable insights that help them make sense of TBs of data. We are measurably making Alexa smarter, and we need your help to define and build the next generation of capabilities, Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field Experience processing large scale datasets, analyzing data to solve business problems and presenting impactful insights to business teams, using SQL, Hadoop, Spark, Hive, EMR, or other Big Data technologies Knowledge and direct experience using business intelligence reporting/visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, OBIEE, Business Objects, Cognos, MicroStrategy, SSAS Cubes, etc.) Ability to work cross-functionally, building and maintaining trust with internal stakeholders Strong written and verbal communication skills. Masters degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field 1+ years of relevant experience in a business intelligence/statistical analysis role Understanding of data warehousing and data modeling Experience with AWS technologies including Redshift, S3, EMR, and QuickSight Experience using R, SAS, or other statistical packages
