Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking an outstanding Data Scientist to join our ESG Application Development team in the Mumbai office. As part of a global team the candidate will need to develop productive working relationships with a geographically distributed team. MSCI ESG Research provides in - depth research, ratings and analysis of the environmental, social and governance - related business practices of thousands of companies worldwide. The ESG Application Development team supports the delivery platform for ESG Research clients and the internal production platform used by 120 analysts and researchers.

Scope of Responsibility
  • Implement Machine Learning / Natural Language Processing / Parsing tools to improve the operational efficiency of the ESG business.
  • Deliver new functionality for the internal production platform and the client delivery platform for the ESG Business.
  • Closely collaborate with Product Management, Quality Assurance, Data Operation and IT Infrastructure on all stages of software development life cycle.
Specific Knowledge/Skills
  • Natural Language Processing, WebCrawling and Neural Networks
  • Machine learning and parsing
  • Very familiar with software development and a good experience with programming languages frequently used in data science (R/Python/Haskell). Knowledge of Java and Ruby would be a plus.
  • Familiarity with Google Search API
  • Familiarity with cloud based application/service development.
  • Relational Databases OR any NoSQL databases including Graph databases.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a multi - cultural and geographically distributed software development team.
  • Self - motivated, pro - active and demonstrating an exceptional drive towards delivery.
Desired Experience
  • 3+ years of experience as data scientist. Preferably working on text processing subjects.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least MSc in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related fields.
