You will certify solutions that provide our customers opportunities to differentiate their service offerings in a very competitive market. You will own entire solutions based on Multi-Domain Service Orchestration (MDSO) and Network Function Virtualization Orchestration (NFVO) and validate them for functionality, reliability, scalability and efficiency.What will you do at Ciena

• Engage various engineering teams, product line managers and product owners to transform concepts and high level requirements into optimized test coverage and enhanced customer experience.
• Develop test strategies to fully exercise MDSO/NFVO functionality as it pertains to L1 Optical Transport Network as well as L2 Carrier Ethernet and Packet management service provisioning, service switching and routing performance, Fault management, Network traffic integrity, stress loading and track test plan execution using TestRail.
• Drive (plan and implement) lab buildout activities to fully address proposed testing scenarios and coordinate equipment acquisition/sharing agreements with the various teams concerned.
• Validate the successful integration of both open source and 3rd party software applications within the MDSO/NFVO solutions to ensure these components contribute in making the Ciena Blue Planet solution a success story for our customers.
• Analyze test results and prepare test reports.
• Investigate software defects and highlight critical issues that can have potential customer impact and consult with software development engineers in finding resolution or to address problems related to specifications and/or test plans/procedures.
• Lead the effort to automate all manually devised and executed test cases using automation best practices, including the maintenance of these test cases going forward.
• Share your vast experience while mentoring more junior members of the team from time to time.

Required Skills:

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills associated with enterprise and carrier software solutions in general.
• Excellent written (documentation) and interpersonal communication skills (English).
• Strong abilities to work as part of a team or independently with little supervision.
• Strong abilities to rapidly learn new complex technological concepts and apply knowledge in daily activities.
• Knowledge and experience working with UNIX/Linux/RHEL/Ubuntu and/or any other server OS, be it on bare metal and/or Virtual Machine, and system admin functions.
• Knowledge and experience working with OSRP (Optical Signaling & Routing Protocol).
• Knowledge and experience working with VMware ESXi, OpenStack virtualization software.
• Test automation experience is required (REST and/or UI Automation); experience using Postman in the context of developing automation framework would be an asset.
• Knowledge and/or work experience with Python, Java, JavaScripting, CORBA, TCL/TK/Expect, Oracle, WebLogic and/or REST API and associated tools is highly desirable.
• Knowledge and/or work experience related to network virtualization software like Open vSwitch, vRouter, etc. is highly desirable.
• Knowledge and/or experience working with Blue Planet product line, its general functions, architecture and micro-services is highly desirable.
• Knowledge and/or experience working with service orchestration platforms in support of L1, L2 and/or L3 services provisioning is highly desirable.
• Knowledge and/or experience working with Layers 1 through 3 technologies (on Ciena s CES, 54XX and/or 6500 platforms would be an asset) with specific expertise in any of the following areas:

Required Experience:

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• 7 years of progressive experience in System Testing role
