Lead Product Software Engineer - DevOpsEssential Duties and responsibilitiesTechnologyIndependently create Build and Deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps YAML pipelines and support existing Octopus Deploy pipelines.Provision Development and Test environments for the Product Development Teams on Azure Cloud services using Hashicorp Terraform.Write ad-hoc automation scripts using PowerShell or Python.Configure Azure DevOps Project for the Product Development Teams. (Customize permissions, create git repositories, adjust pipeline settings.)Create and update Build systems using Ansible or PuppetCreate or upgrade deployments of DevOps tooling with Helm targeting Azure Kubernetes Services.Configure and fine-tune network configuration using Hashicorp TerraformEvaluate current technology and recommend tools for implementation within a project or department.Function as an internal technical mentor at the team level.Direct modifications of designs based on feedback from the Product Development TeamsProjectWork in a scrum team following agile practices.Gather Requirements around system architecture and build and deployment needs from the Product Development Teams and help writing user stories for the DevOps team backlog.Designs System Architectures and threat models for the Solutions managed by the DevOps engineering teamSupply input into annual budget planning for technology migrations and project cost estimation.Collaborate with managers to create project budgets, schedules, and resource requirements, and ensure they are met.Build cost/benefit analyses of design alternatives and collaborate with manager before selecting final design.Responsible for finding efficiencies and reducing costs through adherence and enhancements to software development processes.Leadership and CommunicationLead the design, code and test efforts for DevOps solutionsLead the creation and maintenance of DevOps processes and work instructions about version control, change management, document management, software builds, software deployment and release process.Communicate in a professional manner when interacting with less-experienced staff, peers, senior staff, and internal or external customers.Demonstrate the ability to actively listen to others.Communicates departmental and project strategies to Product Development Team members.Channel strategic ideas and other input from staff to Product Development and DevOps management.Produce well-written technical and business documentation.Prepare and conduct presentations around DevOps topics for various user areas and staff levels, including management.Coache less-experienced staff members in a mentor-type relationship.Interact and collaborate with team members and other teams in a cooperative spirit.Fosters an environment in which others are encouraged to be innovative.Business Acumen:Represent the company externally at a technical level; may give presentations to industry groups.Understands the impact of new projects and technical changes on other areas.Has broad knowledge of Wolters Kluwer products.Has in-depth knowledge of Wolters Kluwer products that are supported in the department.Proactively generates relevant ideas for new and improved use of technology based on knowledge of Wolters Kluwer business, products and systems, and our customers business needs.Balances customer needs with Wolters Kluwer business goals.Is familiar with what key business competitors are offering within their technology solutions.Is able to build and maintain relationships with vendors of technology used in the area, in partnership with higher-level management and technical staff.Recommends buy vs. build development solutions.Understand and provide input for strategic vision at the departmental level.Collaborates with peers, architects, and managers to determine project strategy and how to implement it.Implements project strategy.Sets performance and team goals that are consistent with business goals.Interprets business goals and understands how to implement them.Identifies and ensures that short-term goals are achieved.IndividualProactively manages individual career developmentRegular attendanceOther DutiesConsistently meet the overall job expectations.Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.Job QualificationsEducation: Bachelors degree in Software Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or related subject or equivalent experience.Experience:A Bachelors degree in computer science (or related discipline) is required.5 to 10+ years of experience in professional software development or 5 to 10+ years of experience in Configuration Management/DevOps field.Understands and has experience with an agile SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) (such as Scrum, XP, Lean, Kanban).Understands and has experience in developing in a Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment Environment.Understands and has experience in developing in a Secure Software Development LifecycleUnderstands and has experience in the use and creation of automated tests.Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:Expert knowledge in one or more of the following programming languages: PowerShell, Python, GoLang, C#, Java, JavaScript, Typescript.Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps.Demonstrates ability to effectively organize and plan the development and enhancement of software applications for medium to large projects.Has a strong understanding of the development process to design, construct, test and implement software applications.Demonstrate the ability to interact directly with users to gain the necessary details for implementation.Proficiently uses software tools needed to design, construct and test software applications.Advanced knowledge/experience with relational databases and SQL (prefer Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL optional).Optional experience with Microsoft SQL Reporting Services/Power BI.Advanced knowledge of Microsoft AzureEffective problem solving and analysis skillsFlexibility and ability to work with multiple priorities.Ability to adjust work schedule.Strong detail orientation and time management skills.Motivated to keep technical skills current through training and self-paced learning.Proven teamwork skills.Experience with one or more Secure SDLC tools such as Synopsys Black Duck, Synopsys Coverity, Veracode, HCL AppScan, SonarQube.
